    bypassing "brake lamp" indicator

    my brake light indicator is lit.. not the "brake" light, the "brake lamp" indicator on the gauge cluster where the diagram of the car shows which door is open and if the trunk is open..

    i saw a post recently about the brown box.. well i removed the white/green wire and put it to ground and the indicator is still on.. and i saw that there is a wire that is white with green stripe (the one i did) and there is green with white stripe..

    how exactly do i bypass this? and what did i do wrong?

    thanks guys

            on the drivers side brown box you just need to splice the white wire with the green stripe into the solid black wire. after you cut the white/green wire did you splice in the side coming from the brown box or coming from the larger connector on the harness? i spliced in the wire coming from the harness and left the one coming from the box capped off and my dash light hasnt come on since.

                i just tried to take a pic, but since its dark out here it didnt come out that well on my cell phone. splice in the harness side wire instead and you should be good. how did you secure it, wire nut? solder?

                  i originally spliced it to black wire but brake lamp indicator was still on so i put it on a ground with a nut.. so pretty much much it has to be like this

                  lol im just gonna try and make a little diagram sort of.. square is brown box

                  original:
                  []-----harness

                  how i have it:
                  []--->to ground |----harness

                  how i should have it:
                  []---| to ground<----harness

                  the ">" and "<" means its the one connected on ground lol

                          same here, but i was afraid to start cutting/splicing. will i still be warned of actual brake lights that really out? or does this just disable the light?
