I'm so sick of burning out these cheap Ebay HID ballasts

I have gone through 4 ballasts in a year so far. The Ebay shit really is garbage. What ballasts can I use that are of high quality? I plain on doing a retrofit down the road but as of right now I am holding off until I get a spare set of headlights.

BTW the bulb type is H3

How long has he had them hooked up for so far? I have replaced both my ballasts that burnt out with new replacement ballasts from a different ebay seller and they burnt out in about 6 months also.

buy brand name stuff. i have gen 3 ballast from an audi and they work fine.

are you sure no water is getting to them or any wiring mishaps?
            Maple50175 - you're annoying =P
Brandoncb7 - I don't mean to come across like an ass but I see why you irritate Aaron now.

lol...I've used Ebay kits(when they were way more expensive) and it lasted years and the person i sold it to sold their car with it and it was still working the last time I checked. Actually it was h3 bulb also.

All these $50 kits are just pure garbage hence the quality but its the luck of the draw. The last kit i bought cost be $89 shipped and i transferred to the bimmer and was still working even i sold the bimmer the end of last year(same kit i used in my retrofit for about a year or so).

Thanks for all the input guys. Someone I know referred me to this site http://www.izntrbl.com/lifetime-warr...tml?cPath=4_29

The kits look made very well and they have a warranty plus you can extend the warranty to lifetime for only $20 more.

Now something I was wondering about was, can I make other bulb types besides H3's work? I have heard that the DS2 bulbs are the best for projectors because they are hi and lo in a single bulb and I will be retrofitting projectors down the road. Will I need some kind off connector to make those work? It looks like the kits on that site I posted ship all different connectors in the kit to work with different applications.

I'm pretty sure no water is getting in them. They seem to be sealed pretty good.

what type of headlights are you rubbing the kit on?

dS2 comes in most oem hid setup from the factory with a few exception but its not hi and lo beam unless you are using a bi-xenon projector.

If you have Jdm 1pc headlight you can get a h4 hid kit with the option of a H4 hi and lo bulb.

So why are you using a h3 bulb buddy? Stock cb7 lights uses 9006. If you can do a retro in the future you can get some ds2 amp connectors and bulbs and use them with the same kit/ballast.

There is something wrong in your electrical system. I had the same problem when I was fightin fires out of my wagon. I had a set of wig wags hooked up to the high beams and every ballast I installed for the low beams just seamed to pop after a week. I finally ripped out the wig wags (the device that makes the headlights flash back and forth) I stopped popping ballasts. So if I were you...make sure there are no tiny electrical gremlins roaming about in your CB before you get your next set.
