A piece of good info about the JDM PFM's

I'm about half way done with this project. Other than wiring it back up, one mirror is done.

It is 100% possible to disassemble your stock mirror and reassemble it using the JDM guts. I wasn't sure if you could do it, but you can. You can even swap over the glass to keep the USDM passenger side glass.

I'll do a DIY when I swap the second mirror. I'll show how to take it apart, swap the glass and reasseble it. It's a total PITA, but worth it if you're like me and have black stock mirrors and white PFM's.

thats what I did with mine. only thing is you have to cut and splice the wires.

Exactly, I haven't had a chance to splice them yet...but I did get them back in. The hardest thing is getting the glass to go back in.

+1... well maybe +1/2.... im prolly not as far as mike is, but i have been in the process of completeing this since i recieved broken JDM coupe power folding mirrors.

i bet if you complete a DIY than it will inspire me to get off my fat lazy arse and finish this project.

also ive been talking with another member about using sedan mirrors on coupe bases as another alternative.

yep you can do it! you can even buy each seperate piece inside the mirror as well as the mirror itself from honda. my factory manual shows how to remove the mirror from the housing (DX differs from LX/EX/SE too!). i was going to swap over the mirror if ever i even got my hands on a set for a coupe. you are lucky clark and accordsir for having coupe PFM .

i wonder if you can take some other internals from cheaper jdm honda pfms and stick them into the accord case...

As far as the mirrors fitting untouched NO! You have to swap out the mounting base. Wiring them is easy. You just connect all the wires to the correct ones. Wire the relay mount the switch and relay and bam its done. No extra wires or fuses needed.

gut-swapping is very hard. it is possible but like mike said, it's a total PITA!

i tried to swap just the glass mirrors along with the rotating base today however the JDM internals differed from the USDM ones. i got the glass and base off but the motors are different between the two. it looked like too much work for me so i just left them alone. you can also just HEAT the glass and remove the mirror itself from the rotating base but that's too much work too.

as far as coupe to sedan gut-swapping, i'm sure you can do it with a little patience and wire cutting.

Was the DIY ever done for this? I have a sedan and took everything out and figured it couldn't be done....the mounting was all different in mine??

oOo I gotta see this about the mirror swap. Im already used to the magnification on the drivers side now that it doesnt bother me, but still. I have taken apart my coupe usdm and jdm mirrors. I dont think you can swap everything out. You can definately use sedan JDM parts to fix coupe JDM mirrors. That's how I fixed mines.
