Wow thats beautiful! I love black/gray 2 tone interiors! That brown was gross!

Did you use vinyl dye on them or is that just reguler old paint? I used vinyl dye on the door panels for my chevy mailbu and it came out awesome! It doesn't look painted at all. I doing a scheme similar to yours for it. Awesome job!

      man...

i paid like 50$ or so for 15 yds of my imitation suede lol...

it's all how you want it though, 5-25$ a yard is the normal though. Still isn't too bad.

          Hey guys

It has been a while since I posted here, I have been busy. Anyway I have fairly high hopes for this summer including re-redoing my interior. Although it does look better (hopefully and understatement) it was my first try at it and I think I can do better. First of all the paint works fine on the hard plastics (pillars and other objects of that nature), however I believe that dye is the way to go on the door panels.

If I can find a new looking or good looking pair of coup door panels (hard to do) I will pick them up and start from scratch, if not then I will attempt to make due with what I have available.

I will also be visiting a few automotive upholstery stores in the near future to ask if they order or use any special type of vinyl. When packing up the car to take it to college I scraped my rear quarter with something (not sure what) and it left a scratch. From my experience the OEM vinyl does not do this so I am trying to find out why.

I will hopefully be updating my methods of laying vinyl and get better results (keep fingers crossed).

Aside from the front end of the interior, I am turning my attention to the rear. I have acquired quire a stock pile of stereo equipment and have nearly finished the planning of an install.

So here is the interior hope for the summer...
          1) re-redo door panels (and do them to last for another 18 years YAY HONDA)
          2) re-redo rear quarters (same hope for durability)
          3) dynamat everything that rattles.... (basically everything in our cars)
          4) weld up support braces for rear deck
          5) fiberglass/bondo/sand/vinyl rear deck
          6) remove rear seats
          6) mock up/build/fiberglass/sand/bondo/vinyl replacement for rear seats

7)install stereo (possible list of components and picture this weekend)
          8)enjoy...

Wow they came out great!! The entire interior came out awesome! I have a coupcoupe and I am going to do the same soon. Just curious what you used to change the dash and stuff to black? Because it looks just like the black factory dash I have. And how did you do the door panels? I need to really do those and I'm not sure how. Thanks

Wow. I am highly impressed. I would normally tackle any DIY, but the entire interior, I'd let a shopo do it. Great job!

                      dead thread

Sorry to bring back a dead thread, but I posted a picture of most of the stuff installed so you can see the color matching of dash and door panel.

Plus just get an Idea of what it looks like together.

The carpet is a little dirty, and you can see that the door panel doesn't quite match the dash. Like I said someday I will redo it so its perfect, but for now it will do.

I also still have no driver side door handle LOL. Which is why that panel is not in the car again.

First I will say everything looks awesome. Questions: did you paint your dash? What will you do differently to make the door panels last longer? Will this current method not last awhile?

                              Lasting time

The only parts that would not last indefenity is the paint on my driverside door panel.

I used a different preperation layer then I did on the passanger one and the driverside door can be scratched, I know I scratched it. Other then that you have to be really rough with any of it to not last.

The plastic trim panels for the a and b pillars are painted and in all but one location hold the paint fine. That one location is where the plastic trim piece meets the dash up front. With body roll and constant friction the paint about 1/4 of an inch above the dash has been rubbed off. Everywhere else is fine however.

When I do it again I am going to try and dye the door panels instead of paint for two reasons.

                              1) without really good prep work you can scratch the paint.
                              2) I am not completly pleased witht the color mathing of my door panels with my dash.

I am also going to vinyl the upper plastic trim pieces instead of paint them. I should have done this from the start considering they would be easy to do and then would last forever.

I did not paint the dash, I bought it from a junk yard out of a 93 accord, I did this because I would like to have the colors I am using be simular to already out there accord interior colors.

To answer the question you posted in the other interior thread about the glue and how long it would last. The glue used in mine was aquired stright from a professional shop right out of the container he was using. So yes it is the professional stuff, and IT WILL NOT come undone if installed properly.

Unfortunatly the properly thing is the hard part.

                              Regards,

EDIT: Wow I just read the list of things I wanted to get done last summer and most of it I haven't even started Just so you guys don't think I have abondond this project (which I haven't) I would like to inform you that intead of doing the interior over the summer I swapped an h22a in.
