    Back seat delete

Well, ive seen this for other cars and not for or on any cb7, so i decided to diy it myself. Instead of just removing the backseat and giving everyone a view into my trunk and what may or may not be inside it, i removed the backseat, cleaned up under it, removed the seatbelts, and then placed carpet over the area where there was exposed paint and metal. Its dark now and the pics kind of suck, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like. When i get time in the day ill take better pics.
Some may say this is stupid(i have a 4 door) but im becoming much more performance oriented and wanted to lose some weight, and I dont care for exposed paint and metal as i said before. My wife and family dont ride in the car(we have a passat wagon for that) and so thats not really an issue. Regardless, here it is and tell me what you think.

the carpet isnt a perfect match, but it works for me, as i dont plan on too many people even seeing inside the car anyways, and this is not a show car. I might show it to people, but as i said, its not a show car.

i think the backseat is 40-44 lbs and the seat belts back there were probably a total of 5-6 each, so i would guess about 50 lbs.
i also stripped the trunk but i dont have any pics of that at the moment.
      edit:
      and thanks.
also, when i look back, i want to see people that ive passed, not a reminder that i have a 4 door family sedan!

What did you use to hold it? Looks good though. Need some vacuuming on the carpet =P. But looks good.

                  lets see.
carpet- meijer 10 bucks for a 3x6 piece and it required 2 pieces.
cleaning- yes, its been raining, and i need to get on cleaning the stock carpet, which i will do soon.
holding it in place- along the top i have it tucked in between the rear deck and the metal there. along the sides, if you see the plastic pieces there, i screwed it in there and there are about 3 screws on each side, and used a razor blade to cut the excess. close to the front seats/where the bottom of the back seat was, there are little plastic pieces that hold the original carpet in place, so i put the new carpet under it, put holes to correspond with the other holes, and voila, its pretty secure.
                  tips-
take your time, remove top plastic piece on each side in order to easily access the seat belt(3 bolts hold them in, 2 17mm and 1 10mm, and the buckles for the seat belts are 17mm bolts too. take your time, dont cut your rubber door insulation stuff when cutting the excess carpet and thats about all i can think of. its pretty straight forward, and like i said, i wanted to make a diy, but i wasnt 100% certain if it would come out right, so i didnt. if anyone needs anymore tips just let me know, and once again, thanks for the positive replies.
now to get some lightweight racing seats for the front....

I dont think it weighs THAT much.

30 tops. the bottom part of the back seat is like 10 lbs!! well, it sure feels like it.

                        looks good tho.

LOL u sound like me but yeah i stripped everything and yeah the bottom of the back seat is almost weightless but the fold down backing weighs about 40lbs ( its because of the metal thats inside the seat is heavy as fk. but yeah that and the front seat are the best 2 ways to drop at least 100lbs in the cb7

stock my car weighed 2980lbs and now its 2740lbs WOOT ^_^ ( mississippi truck scale both times sooo i kno its accurate )
