    interior lights legal?

didn't know if this owuld have been better in the lighting section. im thinking about getting some colored interior lights for my car, like blue lights for courtesy doors, and dome light. i was thinking about it and it came accross my mind that this might not be "street legal". i dunno. what do you think?

Aren't those lights usually off when you're on the street?

ok thanks. now that i think about it, that was a kind of stupid question...
this is what i was looking at to fit my dome, 4 courtesy doors, and maybe glove box. HERE . According to the sticky bulb application, they would fit all of the above. i don't know though. i'm new here and i just wanted to know if i was missing something. thanks

This has been a big issue where I live, for 2 reasons.

            1) if you have blue or red lights, you can be mistaken for a police car and that can cause a bunch of problems.

            2) the police count it as a "driver distraction" and will get you on that too.

i had a blue bulb in my dome light, but it turned green in about 2-3 weeks from the heat it made. it wasnt xenon tho, dont know what that would do. it was also pretty dark in my car as well. that was, at least, until i put in blue leds in my vents, foot wells, and under my front seats! the glow at night is awesome. one of the leds in my air vents dropped down from a lack of correct mounting, and gets annoying because it shines in my eyes at night so i shut those off, but i ride around all the time with my footwell lights on .

I did exactly what you are talking about to my 99 Civic when I had it. It was incredibly dark (I used purple). It's kind of cool though because I had MAJOR tint. It actually was kind of like mood lighting! You could roll around town with the dome light on at night. My buddy use to roll *cigarettes* with no care of who was next to us. OT a police officer rolled up right next to us while he was smoking one of these so call *cigarettes*. After a small amount of wigging he just pulled off.

I replaced my dome light with a 4" hyperbight neon tube stick thing. It's not the brightest, but its not bad either.

However, I do intend to figure out how to get the 5g maplights working so I can have maplights if I need them.

This is just me but... pleeease leave your car stock. I have a 2dr SE same color and I dont want to see a nice Sedan go down Rice Alley. I mean, you can do what you want... but I also saw that you plan on getting altezzas. If you do KEEP EVERYTHING that you replace... don't sell off your stock lights to someone... after the altezzas crack and leak (or the blue bulbs burn out) you are going to wish you had the original equipment...

                          Just my two cents.
