This might sound dumb, but when you guys are tightening the screws make sure the hinge is set back in position or else it will still be misalligned. This is kind of hard to explain but the hinges them self have little knubs or nipples on them that fit into holes that are drilled out on the bar that the glovebox hinge mounts to on the bottom. If these "nipples" aren't in their respectives holes or seats it doesn't allow the hinge to sit flush against the mounting bar making the glove box sag. My glove box sagged ever since I bought it and I just lived with it, then when I did my system I decided to mount my signal processor in the glove box. It wasn't until I removed the glove box from the car for modifications that I realized the hinges had these. When I reinstalled the box I made sure to get the hinge flush by making sure the nipples were at home in their holes and the glove box looked ten times better. Mine is off a little due to the fact of the added weight in the glove box naturally making it want to stay open but the top gap is much more even. Hope this helps

            Our boxes are adjustable...

First, take the glove box off the car. There are only three screws holding it on. Two on the hinges underneath and one on the damper shock on the right. Be careful when removing the damper shock. It is plastic and the arm must be pulled slightly away from the box once you remove the screw. The box comes out like a jigsaw puzzle. Just twist it around and the stoppers on each side will pass through the dashboard. Once it's out, tighten everything! I guarantee if your car has some miles, the screws will be loose. There are 4 on the actual metal hinges that connect to the plastic box that get loose. There are 2 inside the box that hold the handle on. Just tighten all you can see.

Now, put it back on making sure you align everything as best as you can. Latch it to hold it in place while you thread in the bottom screws. Tighten the 2 hinge screws as much as you can without stripping the heads. Replace the damper arm and screw. Finally, check to see how it closes. If its too far to the right/left, grasp the assembly from the bottom while its open and twist it the opposite way in a diagonal fashion. Keep checking the fit. You can also adjust how the assembly closes by grabbing the whole box along with the metal bar its attached to from underneath and pulling up or down vertically. You can use some force to adjust it, but be careful not to break anything. The metal latch can be moved slightly if need be.

There is a Honda TSB about adjusting the glove box with some illustrations on how to grab it..

If you are having issues with the light staying on, there is a little plasitc tit that you can buy from Honda that goes over the plunger and extends it out just enough to turn off the light. It's a few cents and VERY worth it if you drive at night.

Mines been off too since we bought the car. Nothing will straighten that bitch out. So my light has been on for 12 years until I replaced it with a LED 2 years ago. Doesn't bother me.

When I worked at Honda I went to lunch with one of the techs and he noticed my slouching glove box. He said "i see a lot like this...know how to fix it?" Then all of a sudden he took it and started bending and twisting it into where it needed to be and he fixed it...just like that. It was so simple that I was baffled that it actually worked. I did the same thing to Alex EX's glove box and haven't had problems since. Just another idea.

light staying on in glove box

Now this problem I am having. I had the damper shock replaced in the past. Is this 'tit' part listed on any of the general Honda links we all know? I'd like to get the p/n & order one.

                        Alright.....

My glovebox had the same sagging problem like evertone elses......this is what I did.....

I took out the glove box.....three screws. Once the box was out, I tightened and adjusted the metal bracket behind the glovebox (you can't miss it since the hinges bolt to it) there is play in it to be adjusted, so I adjusted it all the way up, then tightened the nearly falling out screws. then I put the glovebox back in, mounted all the screws back, and checked for fitment. It really didn't do much, so I got to thinking, and somehow I came up with the bright idea to bend the actual hinge (where the latch latches on). First I bent it slightly toward the bottom of the car, when I closed the box, it sagged even more. So I bent it toward the top more, and it sat a lot better. I did it even more, and it seemed perfect. I think the reason why our boxes sag over time is because of the constant pressure bearing down on the hinge itself causing it to move toward the bottom of the car, which will cause the box to sag more....i dunno, give her a try and see what she does, it definately worked for me!

Re-revival...Well this is my secind CB7 and this one is doing it too but I think on this one the problem is more involved. It feels as if my dashboard is broken somewhere. Can someone post a picture of their dash so I can see if mine is still in that smae shape? I lost my USB cable or I'd do it so you could see. I'll see what I can round up later though.

Just checked and yes, it's definitely broken. It's broken right where your left leg would go if you were sitting in the passenger seat. I guess a better explanation would be the vertical support to the right of the radio. It's definitely broken so I guess I need to take it off sometime and see if I can fix the support and somehow reinforce it or just get a new dashboard...again.
