    DIY TINT? should i?

alright fellas i bought tint today for my back triangle windows, i got some sharp razors, a tint applicator squiege, tint on, and also a tint rubber thingy to smooth it out and get the air bubbles out. this question is for the people that have done tint themselves. i have done it before like 3 years ago with a friend but i basically watched. i have red up on how to do it and it seems very easy. any tips before i start? im doing it tommorrow. thank.s and im only doing the back triangle vent windows thats it so that will make things a little easier seeing as there small.

lots of mild soapy water and take your time, being your first time youll probably fuck up the first sheet or two. be sure to was the crap out of the window, inside and out. then put the tint on the outside of the window to cut the shape, then peel the backing off and soak it, then slap in on the window and squeegy that bitch, im sure youve read most of that before but good luck!

and do it indoors if possible.....taking your window out takes 5 minutes and makes it easier too

          wind makes it ROUGH
well ill be inside the car with the doors shut, i have the seats removed so ill have plenty of room. and again its only the triangle vent windows. yes i bought that "kit" from walmart its a little black angled squeegie and a snap off razor blade, but i bought tinit off not tint on by accident....can i use regular dish soap with water...and how much water to how much dish soap? i know your not supposed to use anything with amonia. also fizz how long did it take you to complete it and how many windows dod u do? when i do my front windows ill remove the glass. and finally what kind of soap did you use? thanks for the reply's,

k thanks, damn all 4 in 15 mins is not bad at all. all the local shops around here wanted $200 or more and that doesnt include the price of tint. so i just bought my own. the legal tint around here is 30% i am doing my 2 rear triangles in...... 2 1/2% and my 2 front will be done in 30%, i figure they wont bust my balls as long as they can see me and i dont think they will care about the rear vent windows seeing as there small. all they care is when .....(if) i ever get pulled over they can see me and notice i dont have a weapon. thanks for the input though.

and something else, use 2 pieces of scotch tape to seperate the tint from the backing......one on each side in the corner and it will pull the film off of the sticky side of the tint
hmmm good idea, i was looking at the tint and was picking at it, thats an easy solution to get it apart. maybe i will take out the vent windows ill hafta see how easy they come out. becuase it must be super easy doing it on a flat table inside a warm dry dust free, wind free house. ill hafta look into that. i know the 2 front windows are just 2 10mm bolts a piece.

a lot of states are %30 or higher. they dont want to walk up to your car with dark tint and get shot. go online and check your local laws. thats what i did.

I have some small, vertical scratches on the inside of my window like it may have dragged against some metal at one point. Will this screw up a tint job?

Also, when you remove the windows to tint them, do you tint all the way to the edges or do you leave room for where the windows sits inside the weather stripping?

p.s. how much would the materials cost? (tint, squeegee, razor etc...) i want 35% (legal) front windows and 5% on the back. (would that look good?)

                            k thanks

alright not done with my diy until i do my 2 front windos but i have tons of pics and for my first time i cant complain, it wasnt hard, the one roll i bought costed $12 and did my 2 rear vent windows and could of done 1 more, but anywho......i spent a total of $15 wich aint bad......it was kind of a bitch though becuase the drivers side was a bitch for some reason the passenger side went quick and i love how they came out although the drivers side has one fla .......w tiny tiny wrinkle thats barely noticeable. all in all it makes the car look 100% better and is def a diy. i used suave shampoo and water 50/50 in a spray bottle with a tint squeege and sharp snap off razor.....youll need a bunch of razors they dull quick. but ill post they diy when i do my front windows. im taking my front windows out becuase there only held in by 2 10mm bolts a piece. the trick is to have very clean windows and patiance......some bubbles can be a bitch. but thanks for the input fizz.....and i know my front windows will be 100% perfect becuase ill be taking them out....tint looks good on my car becuase its black, and a coupe. but for around $20 you can get 2 rolls of tint and the tools and have a great looking tint job if you do it right. ...by the way i bought the best tint walmart had and it has the same ratings as the $30 a roll tint. dont waste your money on the "good" tint. walmarts is fine,.
