    Cup Holder/Center Console ..

I took a picture of this so as to not confuse anyone ...

Apparently the owner before me drank alot of cawfee, or something lol!
But the part where the cups sit .. (outlined in red) is so fugged up ..
I even tried cleaning it .. then I thought .. cut a piece of peel off carbon fiber and ..
No wait .. maybe a piece of textured rubber? What are some of our members ideas?
And show pictures if you've filled that area in with something .. lets see what we come up with.

I was just thinking about this. I used 3M rubbing compound on mine but I want something to keep my phone in place there and not slide around.

My idea was remember in elementary school when you put elmers glue on the top lid of a rubbermaid pencil box and let it dry? We would use them as a book mark when they dry. I was thinking of just pouring a bit of elmers glue on there or something. Not rubber but almost the same kind of texture

then i see my baby, suddenly I'm not crazy,
It all makes sense when i look into her eyes

Take out the console. Get some masking tape and black paint (for plastic) of your choice, and go to town on the FUBARed area. Clear it for protection. $10 bucks or so 'ill have it looking like new OEM.

I just used one of those rubberized pads that people put on their dash to keep their phone from sliding around. Works just fine. As for looks, polish it or paint it.

This is my recommendation as well. Do it right or do it twice.

Nope, not gonna paint it .. that's out of the question.
I'm with Quashish. I don't need to be pickin shit up off the floor that slid all over the joint!
I do plan on taking it apart and "doing it right" with whatever concept I come up with.
But it's not going to be painted. There's a material/plastic/rubber/foam .. something out there.

            Just brain storming.

bah, before I read that you won't paint it I was going to suggest Plasti-Dip.

Oh well, I said it anyways .

Pretty hard to mess one of these up, lol .. then again, I don't know what your idea is.
Care to share? I was just thinking of leather myself.

I'm trying to incorporate a better cupholder so that it doesn't get in the way of the radio. But I dont think its going to workout because underneath that area are the shifter cables, i believe

Cup holder would be sweet. I never use mine because nothing fits in there. But I dont want to just dremel it out. Or find a VW cup holder that could somehow go in place of the cb7 cup holder. But thats off topic

This is what im talking about...a rubber pad that sticks to flat plastic/metal surfaces.

Here it is held at as vertical an angle as possible...it's not going anywhere.

yeah...i rock an old school click-wheel ipod. 20gigs...can't complain.

i was thinking of geting one of these and putting them on the dash near the middle vents. But i dont think its a good idea because its being exposed to the sun and can get a bit dusty around the dash. I ended up getting a phone clip that clips on the vents
