How rare is that OEM flushmount?

As the question states...how rare is it. I know it didnt make it onto the 92 Accord but were they just OEM black rubber or did it also come painted to match the car?

The flushmount spoiler or "Trunk Lip Spoiler" wasn't so much rare in the US, just not a commonly ordered option. It was a dealer-installed accessory that came with higher-tension trunk springs and was painted at the factory for all the colours offered in 90-91. It retailed for about half of the price of the LED trunk -Lid- spoiler (about $295.) There were three trunk option choices in 90-91. You could order the LED spoiler (common), the trunk lip spoiler (less common) and the luggage rack with 3rd brake light (super rare and super ugly). In 1992, they streamlined the accessories somewhat and dropped the luggage rack, flushmount, window visors, and the championship white alloy wheels. They did however, add a gold finish kit and retro-fitted the Honda In-Dash Cellular phone to work in 92-93 EX models. Flushmounts were (and still are) standard on some of the higher-end Si and Si-T, Si-R Accords in Japan. They have returned to become optional once again on the 03-06 Accords...

I will have to see if i can find some. they were really pushed as an upgrade for DX/LX's. They were 14" and can be seen usually on 2/4 door white LX's... Those are SUPER rare, and I believe were used in Japan as well.

I also heard somewhere the flushmount was offered as a coupe option from the dealer, and not pushed as a sedan part, but I could be wrong.

Which ones were the white alloys? I saw that on Majestic back in the day. I only remember the gold and polished option whels.

Jeebus, xaxis360, how do you know all this stuff? Higher-tension trunk springs? What the fashizzle? The lip spoiler was somehow heavier than say, the LED spoiler? It's hard to imagine a lip spoiler being heavy enough to need special springs ...

Come to think of it, would the cars that came with LED spoilers also have special trunk springs?

I can just see it now: back in the day, you order a lip or spoiler, take it home, and included inside the box is also a new set of trunk springs!

BTW I love lip spoilers and am happy to see them coming back --- I can't tell you how tired I am of seeing these airplane wings on the back of grocery getters (um, mine included, even though back in the day I thought the Accord's LED spoiler was pretty cool ...) but I mostly see them on Hybrid Civics and Accords, where I think they are standard.

While "building & pricing" a new Accord on the Honda website it noted under the option of trunk spoiler that it comes with stronger trunk springs.

The reason for the stiffer springs is because that flush mount is pretty heavy. Its a solid piece of urethane I believe.

Thanks for the response guys. I found one sitting on 92 with a 91 Trunk...in plain site a flush mount was just chillin right in front of my face.

Same junkyard where I had dropped my car off at earlier this year. I wanted to look for it but I heard it was crushed . I may ask them what they do with the crushed car itself.

I tried in vain to look for it today to see if it was still in one actual peice.
