    Z3 fenders illegal?

on versus motorsport.com it says the z3 fenders are not street legal. i called them and the guy said its probably a disclaimer type thing. anyone ever heard of a reason for them to be illegal??

lol man why would they be illegal. There fenders there just saying that just incase someone says's they are to back them up. Fenders are fenders.

    Thats my .02

sounds like a nonsense thing. Like a lot of mods aren't "made for the street" like some crap air filters etc

If you want to get technical about it, for most states, Police have the ability to write tickets for "improper equipment" for any part of the car that was not originally in the car when it was sold new. That includes fenders, hoods, bumpers, engines, different wheels, stereo equipment, gages...basically anything that you add to the car. Of course you don't always get a ticket....have you ever heard of anyone getting an "improper equipment" ticket for their aftermarket wheels? Chances are you will never be bothered because of your fenders, but the possibility does exist.

Yeah, its pretty much a disclaimer. You pretty much see it on the packaging of EVERYTHING. Usually says "This product not intended for street use" "off road use only" Most if not all of your driving/fog lights say this.. but nobody gets in trouble

A lot of items say "For show use only" or "not street legal" but I have yet to hear of someone getting busted for it.

I had Z3 fenders on my car for 2 years and I never once got questioned about them or anything else on my car (body kit, c/f hood, wing, ect..)

You'll be fine with it. Oh yeah, good choice with going through Versus. Thats the only company for fiberglass the shop deals with and the only one I recommend for other people to buy from.

When I lived in Hawaii, there was a *law* that required you ... whenever you changed anything
that you needed a *reconstruction permit*.
ie: tires protruding from wheel wells .. body kits .. bling bling .. etc. etc.

This *permit* .. about the size of a wallet photograph .. was stuck on the pass/side windsheild.
It would need to be updated when you added more mods, and even *expired* after a certain
amount of time (2 years I think) If the cops pulled you over, and the permit wasn't valid,
you could get your car impounded, and you'd be cited for a *moving violation*.

Dont you just love how some states, like to get xtra funding from their motorists?
As if insurance, licensing, and registration fees aren't enough .. uhg.

if I'm not mistaken .. but, I'm in Florida now .. annnnd .. sure hope things stay the way they are.

I feel for people like Derrick *FishyMan* .. wheww .. I'll bet in the last decade, since I've left,
things have become worse. Some places just get away with so much more, then others.
