    Paint--Color change

I don't have anything against the Seattle silver...but let's face it, it's not a hot color in the import world. Soooo what i want to do is go for a complete color swap. what i have going on in my head right now is a dark hunter green. But when the light hits it directly it it looks like the actual color green like... crayola crayon GREEN. now. i'm not going to be a lamer and not do the door jambs and trunk lid. i'm going to do them. I need to know if 6000.00 is a good price. or am i dreaming when i want to spend like 2000.00 on what i want. hit me back with some input on pricing if anyone knows. also give me some feedback on my color choice. PS i'm not going for the whole Green Fast n Furios Fad. i want some crazy shit.

um, you could probably have a color shifting 3 stage pearl paint for that price($6000).

a good paint job is all(well, almost all) in the prep.

if you(yes, i mean you personally do it) do a good job at sanding the car, you could get a shop to paint it for $1000-1500.

of course, i do live in the south, so stuff is cheaper here then up north.

wait for rebels to answer, he's always good at this stuff.
I........love my car. Simple as that.

that's just it.... i don't mind prepping it myself. B/C i'm switching my interior over and making it Black so when i rip the old shit out i can prep the car.....drive it to the shop sitting on a milk crate and have them spray it inside and out.

6000? they better do a headlight & tail conversion along with completely shaving the whole car for that.

shit.. if i didn't have a hook up.. the MOST i would spend on a paint job is 2000 and thats including the jambs and such.

bro, you can find a good painter and get an awesome job for around 1500. a real paint shop will paint your jambs, underside of trunk and hood.. and they usually leave the engine bay alone or do it black like we did mine.

my first make over cost me 2K flat.. shaved it all, molded kit, and paint.

you just have to look around.. take your time because it's SENSELESS to pay more than 1500 for a paint job if you are not having any body work done.

I can see spending about $3,000 if they shave the moldings, handles, and paint the car.. thats still a bit high IMO though.

speaking of shaving the door handles.. what do they do when they do that.... just weld a piece of raw stock in there sand it and smooth it out then paint it??? how much do door poppers go for??? i'd wanna get a set. i have a friend who has this book where he can get anything for anycar (factory) made EVER. i was think of getting the verticle door hinges for the front. 600$ hinges and suiciding the backs you think that would look ***?? any way thanks for the input.

PS what is IMO??? i see it everywhere

                    IMO = in my opinion.

for shaving the door handles.. it depends on the body man. typically they weld a piece of metal a tid bit smaller than the door handle it self and tack it all the way around. on mine, metal is actually covering the entire hole and it was grinded down on the edges so so there isn't a hump there. my body man is very skilled with shaving.

door poppers. i always use autoloc because they have never failed me. you can get a solenoid for about $55 each, then just the alarm/keyless entry unit to wire them into. you can wire them to a spare button on an alarm as long as you use a relay to transfer the output from negative to positive.

lambo hinges, i sell lambo door kits that are guarenteed for life, and complete bolt on. let me know about the door poppers, keyless entry, lambo hinges.. you name it.

i can get all of your needs.

yea, rebels is our local crack dealer. "Here, have a taste" he says while showing you pictures of his car, soon you're selling your furnature for a down payment on a set of suicide doors, or split hood.

suicide doors are coming sooner or later..

we might fabricate a kit to suicide the doors, welding and cutting would still be involved but the hinges would be good.

no crack either, only pot. haha

i highly doubt that you can get a "show" quality paint job for $800 unless you got hooked up; a decent paint job at least.

show quality for $800? i'd like to see that. i spent about $1,000 for my paint/pearl/clear and primer and such.. thats with a discount too.

you get what you pay for with paint jobs. i have a hook up working for a shop and knowing the guy who does all of the show cars in my hometown, and i still spent a pretty penny to get my shit done.

take my car, primo's car, accord r33's car.. we all have quite a bit of money in our paint jobs and they are outstanding pieces of work
