    CF Hood wont fit....:(

i just got a vis cf hood off ebay (same hood as accordtunerx's) and me and a couple friends went to put it on today and everything was going great. we took out the 4 bolts that kept on the stock hood, put the weather trip from the stock hood onto the cf hood, and installed the 4 new bolts on the cf hood and went to lay it down and on the right side it was like overlapping on the fender but on the left side there was a pretty big gap. with my stock hood, it was kinda like that but not very bad at all. i know that anything thats not stock isnt going to fit like stock, but i thought since it was a vis hood that it would be alot better...also, i would push the hood over so it fits but it wouldnt go down all the way, like there was somethin in the engine bay that was keeping it up or something...on the cf hood, the underside of it kinda looks like it protrudes (sp?) more than the stock hood. anybody whos had an experience like this and/or knows how to fix it, help would be greatly appreciated. i dont want to waste $500

do this keep the 4 bolts loose on ur hood and move it alittle 2 the other side that it doesn't overlap. not for ur hook, if it is vis it should have 4 bolts there 2 just take them off so the hook comes off and make the hook longer thats wat i did on my boys 5th gen when i put his on his car worked out fine.

yea, keep the bolts loose until it lays over the engine properly, as 92jr pointed out.

i don't remember weather stripping being on the hood though.

let us know how it works/worked out.

i took the weather stripping off the old hood and put it on the new hood, there were holes for it....and i tried just laying it across the engine bay with the screws kinda loose but it felt like something was holding it up. the stock hood is more compact and it looks and feels like the vis hood is a lil bubbly in those lil compartments, so im not sure. im gonna take it to a friend of my parents and see what he can do about it....accordtunerx also told me to see if i can get some hood hinges from the junkyard that i could maybe drill holes into and see if that works

damn, you got the hood off of ebay, so i'm not sure you can send it back.

i actually sent my first hood back, well, not me, but the shop i ordered it from did when they saw it- the weave of the carbon fiber didn't look all that great apparently.

did the hood come with new bolts? i used the hinges and bolts that were already on the car. perhaps that is playing a role, though i would think that the hood shouldn't be off by that much.

                nirvous,

I think you should pm steve about this; he pointed out alot of things he had to do to his cf hood the last time I met up with him a month ago.

i pmed steve and he said he didnt really know of anything to do...and in response to your question uncle_el, i was using the screws provided from the new hood with the hinges that im using right now

damn, mine was so easy to put on. it literally only took about 10 minutes, that's why i'm worried about your ride.

did you ever get in an accident? errrrrr... i guess that wouldn't make sense since the hood shouldn't be off as much as it seems through your description.

don't know if you've tried it, but lay the hood on top of the engine bay as it should and see where it lays in relation to the hinges. perhaps the hinges can be bent in or out.

if all else fails, any chance you can return the hood for a new one?

I helped him try to put it on. It was really weird how it just wouldn't fit. I think the hood is mis-shaped.

we tried to put the hood on 5spdaccord's car (92 2dr ex) and it didnt fit, so i know now that its the hood thats fucked up, and not the car. im calling vis tomorrow and im gonna talk to the guy who sold me the hood cause i shouldnt have to pay for it if its just a faulty product.
