Thinking of doing a cheap QP fix

Yeah I plan on getting a rust free cb7 one day, and don't want to fork out the $$$ to get this one fixed correctly.

So im thinking

1) Get some mesh, rivet it
2) Fiberglass
3) Bondo spot putty?

how do you think this would work?

because the size of that hole , do it right right and and get panels and have them welded in , it will look better, last longer and be worth it in the long run

id say by the size of that
welding is your best choice
if it was a couple inches then probally okay!

my rust spot is like a penny but it's noticable

the right way is using rust converters and preventing future rust. then welding in new panels because of the side of the repair

fiberglass will work but may not last very long. and it will be very hard for you to match the shape of the panel. in the end it will probably crack anyway and will lead you back to where you are now.

welding is you best bet if you have the time and money

See the thing is that, Im probably not going to keep this car for long so I just want to make it look decent for the time being. Don't really want to fork out 100 or so bucks for new quarterpanel

If you already know you're not keeping the car for long, who cares what it looks like? The damage isn't affecting the functionality of the car. Save your money and put it toward whatever car you're planning on buying.

guy drove buy my house and saw me washing my car and said he would do my QP for $500 ......he needed some cash and would even try to mtch the paint.........of course BRIAN IS BROKE and said no... DAM IT o well id have more fun doing it myself

the panel that you have to replace is just the bottom half, which you can find online.

I fixed mine about 14 months ago - and it lasted about a year before it started to bubble in spots and get crappy again. Here is a link to my repair thread:
