Rolling the paint really is a great alternative to spraying.

Here is a picture of the car I am rolling right in my driveway right now.

I am very glad I decided to "roll it" because spraying would have been a lot more work plus I would need to clear out a garage.

I got the car for commuting to school and decided not to spend too much time on the bodywork.

I DID need to paint it thought because it was all BEAT UP and clear coat was peeling.

So I just banged out the dents with a hammer really fast, sanded it, and started rolling.

I am NOT planning on sanding or polishing. It looks great to me for the $28 I spent on the paint. Yes there are bugs in the paint and orange peel but I dont care.

Note: roof isnt painted yet and it still needs ~ 2 more coats

Forgot to say that it is possible to have ABSOLUTELY NO ROLLER MARKS! You just have to get the feel for it.

Yeah, took me some practice, but I think I'm pretty mark-free.

Keeles just sent me a sanding block, so I can get back to work on it! Now is the time for the final wetsand and polish... we'll see how it comes out!

I got a carport ready to go up as soon as I take a tree down... once I do that, I'll have a space to paint the whole car

from my research it will have some minor roller marks..
              '
but thats where wetsanding and buffing comes in.

I'll tell ya, i am a fast learner, and it took me 3 years of doing nothing but wetsanding and buffing 8-10 hrs a day, to be where i am today.
I personally feel when it comes to this, i don't think Foose could keep up. most people hate buffing.... because it is twice as hard as painting, to do it correctly.

I am not trying to scare you, just warning u.

Yeah, I don't expect it'll come out perfect... but anything is better than the halfassed paintjob that's on that car now! The car will be driven hard, and this will be something to be proud of. It'll certainly have plenty of flaws, I'm sure... but it'll be cool. I can always sand it down and have it professionally sprayed later on!

Now, are you talking about buffing with an orbital buffer, or by hand?

If you rolled it on, Anthony, it'd apply... but you sprayed...
Whatever. Good job on getting some paint on that thing!

My project hasn't moved... I lost my fine grit sandpaper, and I can't bring myself to buy more when I KNOW I have a butt-ton laying around! keele sent the proper sanding block, and what seems to be 800 grit paper (which is what I used for the first two passes). I want to use 1500 for the final sand though, and that's what I can't find!

Werd... howzabout you bring me some in a Ferrari?

I might have to meet up with you and grab some if you have some to spare. It'd be a huge help! Money is tight now, and I really don't want to go blow $12 on another pack of paper that won't even all get used!

Yea tell me about it. They let me go due to no fault of my own. They said it was because business was slow due to the economy. I don't think that was the reason. I didn't crash or damage any cars. But there were a few folks there who did not like me because I have my engineering background. A few people were insecure about themselves because my knowledge (automotive/technical/engineering) was overwelming. I was cool with the right people though. The shop forman took a strong liking to me; kinda' wanted to take me under his wing. The service manger who hired me, took a strong liking to me and my work ethic. He did not want to see me go. The rich people who work there just because their parents knew the owner, didn't like me. They hated that I was smart and worked hard. So, it is what it is. Luckily I have a few dollars saved.
