welding in new quarters... would i have to repaint the whole car?

and will any coupe quarters do the job? car is a 90 2 door ex-r and has some rust on the driver side rear quarter and some bubbles starting on the other side with the bumper mount on the passenger side completely rusted off too so the bumper isn't seated correctly... but still comparing to other hondas in this area from the same generation it isn't doing too bad, i've seen many with rusted gaping holes.

what if i somehow managed to find frost white quarters in the junk yard would that mean no painting at all or minimal amount of painting? any 90-93 coupe accord will do?

and how hard is it to take off of the junk car, something i can do? i got a guy who will do the welding in whos worked at a body shop and he'll do it for dirt cheap.. but gotta weigh if its worth it and if i have to repaint the whole car.. the guy whos doing the welding claimed you should paint the whole car to make it look right, but i personally think the rest of the paint on the car is pretty good condition and i like the stock frost white. he gave me a damn good price to paint(base coat/clear coat is the way he said he would paint it) the whole car and fix the rust(900CAD) but his paint job isn't gonna be the best from what i've heard and apparently he's a pretty big pothead too, so i'd rather him only do the welding aspect and paint minimal as possible.

eh. well to get it all uniform yeah, you should paint the entire car. even if you found rear quarters at a junk yard in frost white, that doesnt mean it will cut down on how much you need to paint. the guys gonna need bare metal to tack it all in. the "best" cheap route would be to paint everything from the rear quarter back, all around the trunk.

You can't blend into original paint. I have a blend and you can definitely tell. There's 90 plus spot welds on each quarter panel.

how hard is it to take the panels of the junk car? so i read you need a drill but where do you drill? the one thing i'm good at is tearing shit apart so i should be able to do this eh.

well, you could drill out all the spotwelds. or just cut extra out around what you need.

i had the rust cut off my whip back in '02 and it was matched almost perfectly. then i had the whole car redone so you couldn't tell anyways.

it's not too hard to blend the paint, but it is NEVER perfect. let me tell you it's hard to match the paint on my IS300.

lol, nah.. but how about this.

let me tell you when i had my front bumper repainted on my accord last summer it was a bitch and a half to match it up. i had 5 coats of pearl on there so it was quite the bitch.

and don't hate on me loving my is300.. i honestly miss the days of our blue accords even though my body work wasn't done properly.

Mine's a sedan, you'd have to call and ask for the coupe.

Whats the paint code on the IS, 071, 068? There not to bad to match, I do toyota's and lexus all day long, there pearls are easy compared to most other company's.

As far as the original question, you should atleast paint the roof rail/windshield pillar, inside the jambs, doors, bumper and trunklid and it should look alright, just run a buffer over the fenders and hood to shine it up and call it a day. I'd leave the welding and serious stuff to a bodyman, they'll get it done 10x faster and better. L8r
