    PAINT question

I need my car painted but i need a cheap paint job that has enough clear coating so i can see my own reflection pretty decently, also i need maybe 11 little dings taken out of my car, how much will this cost?

    #2
without seeing pics of your car and depending on where you live I can't answer that.
also depends on where the dings are, and clear coat reflection is really based on painter skill. so theres alot of factors. let me know what or who your considering to paint your car, where these dings are located on the car and where you live, i may be able to give you an idea at least.

dings are mainly on the rear two doors. there is one line dent that is really minor in the front passenger side, there is a 1 inch little bit rusted dent ( exposed metal ) on the driver side door. the paint is in decent condition with a decent amount of scratches. i live in the good ol salt lake.

hmmm, big city. im guessing around 1k-1200? it sounds like you want the dents hammered out which could drive the price up as opposed to filling it with body filler, which is what a cheaper job might do. also, it sounds as if you want a true basecoat/clearcoat as opposed to some single stage job, which also drives your price up. Are you planning on changing the color drastically?

wow 10 bills is a little too much for me, i dont really mind about the body filler and i just want the car to be the same color all around, so the same color as it already is.

well the problem with maaco is they're independently owned, so it really just depends on who they hire. i mean, i could get a job there and paint my ass off. but why would i want to? i dunno, its hit or miss.
Earl Schieb paints all cars at a very high psi. i mean, the go over the car ONCE with sandpaper (like 220 grit) and then blast away at your shit. its like orange peel fest.
best bet would be do the work yourself. i mean shit, you can at least get it to full primer on your own. and learn some bodywork on the way.

But of course these are getting welded in...

and it is getting all the body work and dents knocked out...

2 grand for a paint job is stupid, throw 2 grand into your engine. which is why i just want a decent paint job, so i can throw the rest into a motor.

agreed, even though i am a body man, 2g's on a cb7 paint job is a little out there. i would throw that into an h22 and flat black my whole car lol.

anyways, maaco is a crap shoot, it really depends on who sprays your car. if you can find anyone in your area that has had a maaco job and see if their car looks decent, they might know the name of the guy who shot it. worth trying to find out.

would it be possible to pay them for the paint and like one level of clear coat? then when i get it back, clear coat the rest myself to make it more reflective? im worried mainly about painting it, not clear coating it myself.
