ive seen a honda element on tv (think it was tuner transformation) getting its plastic/rubber panels and bumpers resurfaced and glazed then painted to match the body.

ive gotten my bumpers, molding, lips, and skirts painted on my hondas over the years. its always lasted the life ive owned the car (2 or 3 years). black front lips/bumpers dont take salt and stones well without chipping, but whut do you want for a $400 macco paint job.

yeah i think if the shop painting knows what they're doing then it's fine. i know i've seen my fair share too of crappy paint chipping and flaking off...obviously not done right. when you get a body kit or lip kit, whatever, painted, it's no different that painting the oem stuff....are you also suggesting that people who by body/lip kits are supposed to leave it the factory color of whatever it's made out of? no, it can be painted and made to last, just as you can paint anything on your car, but one of 2 ways, the right way, and the wrong way....i got mine painted at the shop i trust included as part of the repairs to a crash i had, and they did a pro job.

don't do it wrong or have it done wrong is what you're saying, and i agree with that. but there's still the fair share of people who have had no problems over a number of years. can go both ways.

the only body parts that are black are the carbon fiber hood and the lip. the wheels are also dark.

this car lacks the multiple contrasting black lines that your car has, and would still have if only your side skirts are white.

absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

well persionaly i dont like how dark wheels and c/f hoods look on white cars....if i had ur car i would have kept the oem hood and panited all the moldings and lips white and got silver or white rims.... i like teh monochrome

I paint sideskirts, mudflaps, bumpers (and cars) all day long at work for toyota/lexus. Our shop has a lifetime guarantee on paint defects (flaking/peeling/fading) as does ppg when used correctly. All raw plastic parts (such as the stuff on our cars) simply needs to be prepped and sprayed correctly. You need to scotchbrite them with a grey pad (Equivilant to say 600 grit paper), use plastic parts adhesion promotor, then your base and clear (or single stage if you go that route) If you don't scuff them well, or don't use the adhesion promotor, it will peel in a matter of weeks. Like it was said above, theres the right and wrong way to do things.

Also, for the DIY's out there, this can be done with rattle can paint, but obviously the quality will be lacking. They make the adhesion promotor in a rattle can, then you can put your base and clear on it. It should stick pretty well and hold up good enough for a done at home job. L8r
