mines painted... Just sand the valve cover down and get some high heat engine paint. Comes out pretty nice looking... I'll let ya'll know how long it lasts but so far my buddy has done many like this and they all still look good.
This pic does the valve cover no justice as it look a million times better in person.

Just sand off all the old paint and scuff up the surface with say a 1000 grit paper. You want the surface to be scuffed so the paint will stick... And then just apply paint until its all covered. if you see swirls, which you shouldn't, apply more paint to it until there gone... I think the a whole can of paint got used on my valve cover.Oil leak? What oil leak? That's just sweat from all that horsepower!

theres a great invention that can be found at schucks. its called Tal-Strip. buy a can of it and spray your valve cover. that will take paint off of anything. just spray water on it to get everything off. be VERY CAREFUL not to get it on your skin. your skin will bubble and peel off. it works like a charm, i used it.

now scotch brite and clean again

let sit over night then clean it off or bake it then clean it off and install it with new valvecover gasket
