    sidemolding discoloration

being a 12-year-old car, my black sidemoldings have discolored to a grey color. they don't look pleasing since they don't match the black moldings on the bumpers anymore. is there a way to get it back to a nice black finish without painting it?

i was thinking of sanding it down. will this work? i've put rubber protector on it like armorall and it gets it black but only temporarily. i want it black permanently. it doesn't have to be shiny either. i actually prefer a matte finish. thanks!

Use a black permanent marker. J/K I need to paint mine too but I think I'm gonna do mine the same color as the car.

nope.. no way to restore the shine.. because when plastic gets old it gets dry and cracks a bit, but mostly it just fades alot.. and once its faded you cant bring it back.. you can bring it back temporarily like the shine stuff.. but thats bout it.. shit happens .. only way is to paint it up or new.. sry G

if you use back to black every time you wash your car it will bring the mouldings back to shining like theyre new.

i know you dont wanna paint them but hear me out for a sec...what i did was LIGHTLY spray my moldings with black paint spray...a couple of days in the sun and the black should fade out a lil to blend in with the color of the bumpers...then again i dont know how badly your moldings are discolored but this is just a sugestion...it's really easy, easier than gasing up your car
