they just unscrew the chrome trim from the black plastic, then place it in between and screw it back together. i think it looks cheap though. might as well put chicken wire in there. later.

well i did mine a couple days ago, i used the mesh from the grill from a Sentra SE-R since i work at a bodyshop and they were throwing it away, painted it audi black and clearcoat, here is the final result, i think it looks awesome, and not "cheap"

i used gutter guard from home depot and my accord emblem is on there heres a shitty pic of mine

I'm building one right now for a friend. I removed the H emblem (90-91)...using gutter guard and adding an old accord emblem. If done right it looks kinda like the civic type R style....better than ricey chrome bars for a grille IMO.

Gotta love HD and Lowes....$1.50 for gutter guard is ALOT better than $20+ for basically the same thing
