There are kits made specifically for our cars.... however with the price tag I would rather spend 40-50 dollars more and custom fit a genuine quality kit like Tein or Billet LokaR kit.
As far As making a non oem or other make strut to work, issues would be the overall length of the strut and fabbing brackets that would sit in our engine bay. Mainly custom brackets is the real issue.
A really nice one that I believe will work without too much modification would be a OEM Maxima from pre 93 under? Well they have a nice "kickstand" failsafe support too just in case the piston gets old later and can't support the hoods weight.
