    What is a quiet exhaust?

I don't know where to put this so if it needs to be moved, feel free to do so.
I just bought a CD5 (don't freak out, I still own a CB7 ). Well, the stock exaust is going out so I wanna get a new one for it. I want a nice looking exaust with a 3"-3.5" outlet and possibly a dual tip with dual 2"-2.5" outlets. I don't want it to be loud though. The quieter, the better. But I want it to have performance gains too. Any suggestions? One more thing; would a cat-back just make the car louder or does it have any effect on sound if compared to just the exaust alone?

Couldn't of been done without you guys

    World Sport.

Bigger tip that most (100 mm), but sounds almost OEM...no louder than my intake.

Insane fit and finish. Well worth the money.

RS*R also makes a very quiet exhaust with superb quality. I like both. If you search for both brands, there are several threads started on each of them, as well as some polls and maybe still some sound clips.

Get a stock muffler. Weld two nice tips of your choice to it. And install an automatic (push-button) side exit (Y-pipe) DUMPVALVE!!
When someone challenges you at a light, you flick the switch and you're running practicly off the headers. When the 5-0 spots you, flick the switch again and deny it was your car. Even offer to rev it for them with your stock muffler.

apexi world sport 1 or 2 is a nice quiet exhaust system. I would ask accord022, a.k.a Mark about it, because he has WS2, and its super quiet and super sleeper style. Its very nice. I think accordtunerx, also has WS2. They are awesome catback exhaust systems, and are awesome if your looking for quiet, and awesome performace.

Basically, the longer the muffler, and the more baffling it has, the quieter it is. It also provides more restriction, which is why all the good systems above cost a good deal of money! They tend to flow pretty well.

There's always they option of getting a cheaper system that you like the looks of (I have a muffler-shop special dual slant tip muffler that I love) and add a resonator or two. If you get a nice long high quality resonator installed between the cat and the muffler, you can have a VERY quiet system. I personally hate the large single tip look, so that has kept me from getting any of the popular systems.

alright i got the apexi ws 2. WOW..... its fuckin quiet as hell. EXACTLY like stock...maybe quieter. But from the inside you wouldnt even knoe you had an exhaust. Until you smash will you hear the deep tones. NICE! Definately not a cop puller over. and the gains are noticable. My rpm needle moves a LOT faster. And its not ALL in my head. Go for it dude. GET an apexi ws2. sounds nice deep and quiet. A good quality exhaust AND noticable gains.

Sounds like the WS2 is favored by alot of you guys. How about dual tips? Any suggestions there? Also, would sound make a difference if I instaaled the whole cat-back versus only the exaust?

got my RS*R and everyone thinks all i have is the muffler...its that quiet..at idle its quieter than stock..and it sounds like all i have is intake. if you want to stay quiet and still have the normal HP mod get either the Apexi or RS*R..youll prolly save more with the WS1 or WS2..but those are the two that seem to be the quietest and direct bolt on. other than that go with what deev says..get a good resonator welded up to your custon system with a quality muffler...(maybe Mugen twin loop or other knock off of that system)...
