Repainting side skirts and front lip

I currently have a CD5 front lip and CD5 side skirts. As I'm sure many CB7 owners know the side skirts and front lip (OEM) tend to get ashy looking after a while

I've been keeping up with temporarily getting rid of this issue by apply tire dressing but it's beginning to get annoying so I'm looking into repainting them black..

I've used plasti dip and loved the finish but it began peeling within a week

Any suggestions on as to which paint would be best and what grit sandpaper is needed

    Thanks in advance

I was in your situation too. I tried painting the lip gloss black... that was a bad idea. every pebble from the road makes a pit and every slight knick cracks the clear coat.

where im at its hard to find a lip that's in good shape at all so. after the 6th time in 2 years of re finishing (removing, sanding, prepping, priming, painting, clearing) my old legend lip.

I went and got another did some body work on it and sanded the bare abs with like 250 then 150 and sprayed a clear coat on it. ive found its hard to smooth out the abs without putting down a layer of paint. idk why. when that's dry I continued to sand down with finer grits until I got to 800 and then it was smooth enough to prep and paint like a brand new lip. and I used $0.99 flat black from wal mart. if I scrape something or whatever I just spray over it the next time I wash it and it blends super easy. no sags or uneven spots.

when painting I usually wet sand after 3 layers of the flat black with like 1000 and then prime and paint again.

        C-3PO's MRT USDM yo!

then i see my baby, suddenly I'm not crazy,
It all makes sense when i look into her eyes

Well the good thing is that in my case the side skirts aren't really beat up and I'm sure with maybe some light sanding will suffice. The front lip does have a few scrapes but nothing extreme.

And are the side moldings and side skirts made from the same type of plastics for the heat gun to work as efficiently as it did in the video when applied to the door molding ?

                Sounds cool

I hope this isn't a dumb question but by trim are you referring to Door molding or and Side skirts/front lip

the one piece on the door is like rubber so you cant do anything but paint it. the rest is hard plastic and it will work on all of it. even the moldings in the bumpers.
