I've got the same issue, and on a brand new paint job at that ..
I was thinking of some sort of mild polishing compound, put on by hand, then buffed with a low to medium rpm wheel? Then wax it to a brilliant shine?

The other day my friend was telling me about Mothers Water spot remover, so I searched it up on Mothers wax forum and found a thread about it and also, you can use Mothers Chrome Polish, but the Water spot remover is much more aggressive and meant for glass. My friend said it worked really well on his '94 Accord.

I have to say i don't really miss the old detail days...i learned a ton of useful info though...
You could also use the steel wool with the water-spot remover you already purchased. Let the treatment sit for a bit so the chemicals can work before you remove it. Less work that way...
