Painting w/ no enclosure?

Hey; so I've read up on painting vehicles w/ spray cans (not going to use a sprayer or compressor as thats easily over $800 alone, especially for the required 120psi compressor).

I don't have a garage or anything to paint in; so I will probably:
A) Buy one of those Tents that you can drive a car under, put a tarp on the ground before driving into it. Use plastic wrap to close it properly. I will not have a proper exhaust/fan/filter so will have to do it in smaller parts.

or

B) Take everything apart (including door panels, quarter panels, bumpers, trunk) and paint it all piece-by-piece in a shed?

do you have a harbor freight in your area?

you can get a compressor and paint gun for around 200!

thats as much as one of those tents.

my neighbor primed his camaro outside in the open with

a 20gallon tank and a cheap spray gun. (both from harbor freight)

he had a shop do the rest.

i never painted a whole car before(only done touch ups) but imo

as long your just priming you should be safe without an enclosure.

just pick a dry hot day to paint.

i was going to attempt (B) once ...since i live in a apartment .... but i think its just best to take it to maaco.... ( just my opinion )

Since your spray bombing it, I'd paint it out in the open. It's not really going to add to the amount of wet sanding your going to have to do to make it look good. Just make sure it's not a windy day.

I spray painted my sedan in my apartment parking lot. It turned out pretty good. Just got to do the right prep work first and use good paint, not cheap dollar store paint. Heres how mine looks and yes, I still need to paint the mirrors.

Nice! That looks really good! Thanks for the input everybody; I'm currently working on spraying my old crashed cb7 until I feel I have a good enough technique to do my new 2dr!

I painted this engine bay outside. Just make sure it is a sunny day to get the
surface warm and that it is not windy.

This was done using a compressor and spray gun though.

I highly recommend using a compressor and spray gun. It may be a little bit
more but it will be worth it in the end. I have done both spray cans and
spray guns and if I could do it over I would've just started with spray guns.

^^NICE! I think for now I may just buy some exact-match color to patch up the trunk and roof (although it won't be exact-faded match). Maybe by June I'll have enough for a compressor and spray gun and maybe I'll even be renting a place with a garage *drool*.
