    gonna rattle can it...

im poor and im gonna have this car till it dies...

i wanna make it decent looking at least
they're are wayyy too many rust spots, scratches etc (dents and stuff are not a problem though..)

my plan is to sand to bare metal, prime (couple coats), then paint (also couple coats) i want to paint it black because i believe it will come out best this way..

    any tips, suggestions? flames..

    uh pix of the car..

there is no point to go to the bare metal if you are going to rattle can it.

just use some 800 to scuff up the paint and even out the scratches and all, then prime, then wetsand, then rattle can it.

if i was going to rattle, i wouldnt worry about any top coats, i would just primer... this way you can ensure it will come out even

Why are you going to rattle can it? It looks halfway decent in those pictures, rattle can will just make it look like a roach coach.

use semi gloss flat black... and clean the car with degreeser.. then do a light sand and paint over the white.. fck the primer... its just notworth it if your gonna rattle it .... ittle look good (use 100 grit sand block and dip it in water after your fist coat and wet sand and dry then do a seccond final coat in semi gloss black or full black..

any other color than black i would say jist save ur money and get it don at a cheap paint shop..

for all the prep work you're doing. Why not just prep it and pay Maaco like 249 to just spray the car?

i hear ya no point in investing alot in a car ur only gonna have for a little longer. if your going to rattle can, i suggest at least sealing it with a clearcoat when your done

I rattled canned my whole car. I basically sanded one piece at a time, painted, sanded, painted, sanded, and painted painted painted. I then clear coated. It is not "glossy" by any means but it was just a fun project. If you would like more details send me an email. If could do it again, I would check Macco and see what could I could make work there. The prep work is what kills ya.

                  Thanks,

if you just have to rattle can it, take your time!

this car was changed from red to white:

a lot of attention to detail was paid... and only $65 for materials!
