Where do those maplights come from and how do I mount them? I know how to cut the hole but I need to know what holds them up?

I guess I am asking if I need a bracket. If so what holds the bracket up?

maplights come from (to my knowledge) acura cl 97-99, accord 5th gen 96-97.

they are mounted via the bracket and the headliner. Look in the DIY, first pic, and you'll see the bracket, the middle thing. do you see the 3 "feet" and that little lip on the opposite edge? those rest on top of your liner, the portion between your actual roof and the liner. that's what's keeping the bracket up there, it rests on your liner.

Now, you cut the hole in your liner as described in the DIY, AND NO BIGGER. When you install the maplight and screw them in, it will sandwich the liner between the maplight and the bracket, thus holding it in.

so its just the head liner that holds it?

it should come with the bracket, assuming no one tried to pull the maplight already and had taken the bracket

yeah, the headliner is what's holding it. or more correctly, the headliner is what the maplight is holding onto
