    Turn Signal Tinting Laws?

    Hi Guys,

Wondering if you can help a "Newbie" CB7 Tuner out! (there might be a thread already out there if so can someone direct me!)

I am trying to go with Yellow Detail work with my 93 Accord Lx... But alas the orange of the turn signals kind of clashes with the yellow. I wondering if I can darken them, get clear lenses and just keep an orange bulb, or something of that matter and still stay within the legalities of it...

If somebody can help me out that would be great!

Also if someone has blackened there lights can I see?!

It depends on your local laws.

In TN, you have to be able to see the bulb from 50ft away in broad daylight. That goes for tail lights, brake light, turn signals, headlights, etc.

My bumper lights are tinted black.

I think I'm confused on what you're wanting to do... so I'll get into detail. Maybe one point will answer your question.

If you spray yellow tint on a clear lens, the more coats you put on, the darker it'll get. You'll eventually get to an yellow/orange color you desire.

If you get clean lenses and orange bulbs, the lights will be orange when illuminated.

If you're trying to spray yellow tint on an orange lens, it won't get yellow. It'll just get darker.

Sorry I should have been a bit more specific.

I am considering a couple of options to make this work:

          1. Clear lens's with Orange bulb (only illuminates when lit)
          2. Blacked out Lens with orange bulb (Darker)
          3. Yellow Lens with orange bulb (Lights up orange when lit, but when not lit yellow...?) <---- don't know how well that one would turn out. I would test it first.

          and Thanks! You helped!

1.) That works perfectly. I had clear bumper lights w/ Sylvania bulbs when I had my green EX. The bulb had some sort of coating on it to be a bluer type color when not illuminated, but orange when lit up.

2.) Blacked out lens is what I currently have. It's tinted over OEM orange, so I have clear bulbs in them. When they light up, they have a deep amber glow to them.

3.) Yellow lens with an orange bulb would light up orange. Even with the colors mixed, it'd light up a yellow-orange color, but you'd still be able to call it "orange" to stay out of trouble with the law enforcement folks.

I have all clears in my turn signals, no yellow or amber. This would include my rear turn signals as well. I been pulled over a few times no cops say anything about to me at all.

I can't tell you much but I can tell you this...the light emitted must be orange

(off topic but your tail lights must be red and have red reflectors)

Lenses could be clear but the light is what seems to matter, turn signals front and back and side markers

I just had my inspection done at a pretty strict place...they didn't care that my lenses were clear they just didn't like the fast blinking

just because you get away with it doesn't make it ok so please don't abide by that. White light as a blinker is annoying as hell to those behind you...and illegal. Besides...OP doesn't want any more reason to be pulled over.

if you get L.E.D. bulbs in white and put them into the turn signal housing, the light comes out yellowish. i have them in my accord plus since its an L.E.D. it gives you a crisp on/off flash. you have to put in a resistor in order to cancel out the hyper blink but i didnt do it in my. imo i like the hyper blink
