hey I wanted to aint my car the same color it is marroon. but i dont have time.. So I had a idea.. If I wet sand my car and prep it all up and tape everything off how much will ammco or mammco whatever that cheap place is will charge me for a good paint job ya think? I heard there not that good but I also heard they are great if u do ur own prep work.. any ideas.. thanks imn advance.

A lot of those places can either be really good for the money or absolutely horrible. If I'm not mistaken Maaco is a franchise operation, so I think it would best to go in and talk to some of the paint guys, maybe see some examples of their work. because I have te marroon/burgandy car or bordeax red I think is the exasct name.. Because I am only going to sand off the clear coat.. Cant they use a darker paint just a little darker put 2 or 3 coats of it on than put clear coats on..? I would like the color a little darker is that possible without sandin and preppin from bare metal.? thanksComment

Oh yea and to add those black strips no the side of the dorrs, I know I can take them off but when sanded and painted black do they look right? I want them crispy black right now they are faded lookin and I can make them look black by puttin amroal on them but then it wears off I want to paint them.. how do thye ocme out?Comment

I know a guy who tosses whoever is painting his car at macco an extra 100 bucks to slap some extra coats of clear coat onto it.
