I sanded the areas that had no uneveness at all. They just needed to be roughed up, primed, painted so I did everything but prime and spray. If anything needed a guide coat, they did it. Hope that makes sense, I re-read my post above and I see why you were confused. Sorry about that. BTW, the paint was about $400, or so I was told 1/3 of the total. Not sure if that was his cost or what he charged me.

If you get a quote for just tape and paint only, you should do okay. Some of these local shops are hurting right now because most everyone that has a small fender bender (in a car that is paid for) that gets a check from insurance to fix it, are taking them to the bank for cash rather than repair. A few guys told me business is down big time right now.

If ppl ask they'll want to know and when you tell them they're like oh he did a good job.

So someones name means alot to them in the autobody field. but it looks great nonetheless

      ^ he gets it....

Buying paint from honda prolly wasn't a smart choice, as they normally use cheap quality paint.
the body shop most likely had a better quality paint, that can easily match oem finishes.

good job on not being scarred to work out a deal with your local shop.

Well said....I wasnt sure what kind of paint Honda uses, I would have gone with the paint the body shop uses especially for a full dip. Even if they mixed it slightly off you wouldnt be able to tell.

every manufacturer uses a cheap paint, it goes to the lowest bidder most the time.
what gets really bad, is when they use one brand of ecoat, then a diff brand of sealer, then another brand of paint color, and then another brand of clear coat.
it's not a good combination at all.

hahaha, you want to hear about shitty OEM paint. Look at a company like Hyundai or Suzuki. Terrible quality.

You guys may be right. I only went by what I was told. Hopefully if I can keep a decent coat of wax on it, it will stay fresh. I will try to get more details about it and get the exact cost.

Honda's I have owned in the past are listed below. Never had any bad problems with paint on these cars so one would think it was not too cheap? You guys got me scared now!

                91 Prelude Si (red)

don't be scarred, as long as your prep work is good and you have a high solid uv protected clear coat, your paint will be fine.. you prolly overpaid for a cheap paint is all i was getting at.

anyways, I'm glad you mentioned wax, it's discresionary, depending on the clear coat product used. but you should never wax fresh paint for 30-90 days.

if you do, it could litterly de-laminate the paint off your car, or cause fish-eyes.

as most high solid clears take 90 days to completely cure. even though it may seem dry and not doing any noticable damage to the touch.

be sure and keep salt off fresh paint as well.

Excellent, was wondering about the wax. I called my guy last night and he said he used a PPG matched color, because the honda paint would not be there for at least 1 week. He charged me the same amount, so hopefully it is decent. I can tell that it looks a little darker (to me anyway), but it is very subtle and only certain angles vs. the jambs that are oem.

I have more pics coming today, 93 legend coupe lip is installed, fogs are installed...just need to carefully get the front bumper back on now and wire this sh!t up Trying to wire them with the parking lights...seems to work fine...

                      Few more pics...

Took me all day to install legend lip, install fogs, wire, put bumpers back on and all the other random stuff that you run into. Since I was doing electical anyway I went ahead and installed my Kenwood MP342U, Alpine amp, and some 10's in a box that came from a former ride. I am beat and my fingers are torn all to sh!t and back. Anyway, came out decent. Not perfect by any means but great for a dd. Will do some pics in the sun when I have a chance.

if you still talk to the painter, I'm curious what type of paint he used. PPG has many different brands, See if he used Deltron2000, Global, Vibrance, or Shopline on your car. Then which all over clear he used. this information will tell me alot for the future of your paint.

if your ever intrested a great clear coat that we use on $100,000.00 show cars is PPG's Global 2002 High Solid Clear. this clear is amazing.. show cars we have done and everyday drivers we have done with this clear,7 years later still looks as good as the day i color snaded and buffed it.

I can get the paint info from him for sure. Here are a few more pics. I'm almost done, may need to do something with that grill. I also need to paint the mirrors satin black. I'm sure no matter what is added, you never really get done with it.....

The engine bay is totally stock. Clean but stock. I got this car to be a decent daily driver to save miles on my new Tundra. I needed something that is reliable, easy to fix, great on gas and big enough to take the family out if needed. It has fairly low miles 123k so I am shooting for 300k...! The other thing with CB7's is they are everywhere. On the streets and in the yards.

BTW, I looked through your ride link, damn dude that is some crazy work. Most of the over the top stuff not really my style, but you got to respect the skills. I should have brought my car to you How long have you been doing bodywork? You know that your own shop is the way to go......
