    16" vs 17" Rims

I see lots of people on the forum usually get 16 for performance and 17 for style. Could I still get could performance with 17's? I'm looking for maximum performance, also what's a good width? Most of the rims I'm looking at are 205/50-16. Also note I'm on a wagon if that matters.

Just want to double check before I make any decisions.

Here are some rims that I pulled up in a couple of minutes on Tire Rack.

              That's pretty impressive.

Frankly, don't bother with worrying about the weight differences between 16s and 17s. You've got to be quite the driver to sense the difference.
Go with whats affordable and looks good to you. The sensation of being proud of your rims is >> than knowing that your lightweight rims are marginally increasing the performance of your daily driver.

Yeah everything, weight I would want down to a minimum, more width is better right? And I'm looking 16/17 nothing bigger.

Pulled up this randomly crazy nice and clean and light but expensive.

I could get similar Enkei's for 70 bucks less, EACH rim.

the ultimate wheels would be forged. stronger than steel and weigh alot less. cast is wack but okay since not everyone will care so much. oem honda wheels for us are cast.

ride gets sort of rougher and easier to bend wheels with bigger rims with the compensation of the sidewall thickness to rim diameter..

It depends on your definition of maximum performance. Lighter wheels is definately a max performance trait. 16" or 17" depends on you. The wheels and tires are more expensive for 17's obviously. Enkei rpf01 are pretty popular light wheels that tons of people who track their car use. Also you should think about the combo width of the wheels and tires you plan on running. Like Ikayto said with a lower profile the sidewall is stiffer give you better handling and more feedback to the wheel however increases harshness of the ride ie bumps.

Yeah forgot to note that this is a daily driver and not going to use for insane races so I won't need to most light rims or best tires etc. I'm just looking for light stuff that looks great and is priced well. If I run 16's with low profile tires and 15's with winter tires in the winter would that affect anything overtime?

Those 5Zigen and Enkei's that run around 200 I probably won't get. But I'm liking the 5Zigen's looks a lot more than the Enkei's. But the Enkei's weight a couple pounds less each rim.
