And No... you don't always have to pay to play. With Yakima and Thule you are paying for the name. Kinda like the AEM SRI. You don't HAVE to pay to play. Its not something your life relies on.

to the OP... go for it! I actually had those on my CB when I got it about three years ago. My dad originally used them to haul around 10 foot long surfboards. So, I think they are actually pretty good. It is just that you won't be as COOL as everyone else because the rack doesn't say Yakima or Thule on it. Just do what you want to do. It will probably look good.
really you had one? the only thing that i was wondering was if the straps come lose?

My CAR had one haha. What do you mean by come loose? Like while you are driving? I just asked my dad and he had no problems with them. He actually switched them over to his 79 mercedes 300d. Still uses them and he has had them for about 4-5 years.

^^^ but thats all someone would be paying for... the look of it and the fact that it says yakima on it.

i used the feet from that rack for the snowboard rack im building, not bad stuff.
now all i have left to do is build a plexiglass fairing.

if i were you i would go either Yakima or Thule, their parts last forever and they have a lifetime warranty.
