Yes, The Accord and Accord Ascot are similar cars, they share the same chassis (CB1/2/3/4) but they are different models. They share similar drivetrain components, both have 4ws variants and also an Si variant.
Honda's model codes for the 9093 Accord range:
Accord Coupe = SM2
Accord Ascot = SM3
Accord sedan = SM4
Accord Wagon = SM5 (I think so )
It's the same case for the 6th gen Accord/Torneo. Similar cars, different styling for different marketing channels.
IMHO, the Ascot looks more upmarket, goes well with the name, Ascot. It also has better interior appointments; ie electrically adjustable driver seat.
PS? The Ascot's window controls are near the door handles. The Ascot door pads on the CB3 pictured has been re-cloaked with cloth that resembles the cloth on Recaro seats.
