Intersection light alternative! Prelude bumper sidemarker --an idea

I thought of this a while ago when I was with my friend with a 01 prelude and he'd always complain about his front bumper sidemarker and wanted it shaved.

Looking at them, they are exactly the same as the cd5 rear bumper red bumper light/lense but orange and in some cases clear.

Maybe it's a little much with the fender sidemarker

The light output wouldn't be like an intersection light though. They'd be for looks in the end.

I think intersection lights are put for looks anyways lol.

I'm sure you can throw a brighter bulb in there.

      light output isnt so shabby

lol, I'd want em to be functional though. For looks they'd work though
Just remember that they'd need to light up the ground, so light output should be similar to a dim foglight.

Although it doesnt look bad, it would only be a replacement for your stock corner light. Intersection lights are really nice to have when you live out of the city; come in handy!

I've always said that someone should retrofit projectors in an intersection light

Just an idea, I wish I had spare bumpers that I could cut up.

                    Yes:
                    Crown Vics.
                    Grand Marqs.
                    Lincoln Towncars.
A bunch of other "granny" cars.
The newer gen Maxima does too (not the 09's, but the ones prior).

Most are part of the corner light though.

Ikayto, go ahead and do it! I already have 97-01 ambers lying around for months, just need to get off my lazy bum and do it. Yours would look good with clears though coz you already got amber sidemarkers, imo. I'm going for clear jdm sidemarkers with amber bb6 sidemarkers.

i'm trying to figure out if I like it because it looks nice or I like it because I dont have it meaning if I had it on my car would I want to shave it?

There is a 94-95 blue accord in my area that had a buddyclub front bumper that did this. He wasn't running it as intersections but just put those markers in his bumper for accent lights. At night when they are on, they appear hazy purple.

I don't think these lamps are big enough to function as intersection lamps because they don't project light like a true intersection lamp does. They are simply bumper markers and even if you got Euro-clear versions, they won't light up the side of the road like a spotlight which true intersections do.

Also fitting higher wattage bulbs may just melt the housing anyways....but unless you mod the housing to begin with, you can't go bigger than a 168/194wedge bulb. You can try maybe a H3 but back in the day before I had real cb fogs, I did the infamous bumper turn signal fog mod with E-bay clears. I used a higher wattage superwhite bulb and sure it was brighter but it still didn't light up the ground like a fog and it melted the housing after awhile.

Looks wise it would look cool, but there is no way for it to work as a true intersection lamp because of the design.

I was gonna use mine as sidemarkers only.

yeah I just called it an alternative because it's in the general area of the intersection light.

I think it looks intersesting. I wish I had my spare 92-93 bumper, i'd try it out.
