    Sun Roof into LX.

Since it seems to be so damn hard to find a 92/93 Ex Coupe 5 Speed in black with a good body (no accidents), I was wondering how hard or how much time and effort do you think it will take to install a sun roof into a 92/93 Lx coupe? That's the only reason why I don't want an Lx (no roof). Everyything else can be swapped over eaisly.

So how hard. Would you be able to do it in a home garage with the basics?

Depends on the type of roof you use.

If you're using an OEM sunroof, you need to do a lot of work, as I looked into this a few years ago. There is substructure in the EX that the LX doesn't have including bracing across the roof. In addition the LX and EX do not share the same headliner/grab handle combination.

If you were to just cut a hole and install a generic aftermarket sunroof, it wouldn't be as hard, as there's no rails in the roof that you have to worry about as far as cross bracing is concerned. You're going to spend a significant amount of money on a quality sunroof though, and the chances of it leaking are high.

All and all, I'd go with an EX.

Besides, you can't get a black LX unless you paint it.

Thanks for that plate of information. I guess I'll have to keep looking for an EX.

Actuall if I was going to perform the swap, I would want the OEM roof. It's just so damn hard to find a 92/93 Ex Coupe in blace that is unmolested.

Yea I know. I even called him. I am leaning towards it, but no offense, it is a little molested. But I am still thinking about it because it is right next door in Ohio. I was think about it while I was putting in my NGK plugs.

kidd262 has swapped in a CB3 Sunroof into his CB7

he got the whole roof assembly (complete with headliner, grab handles, maplights)

but he sent the car to a body shop tho.

I think that may be the smart way to go.

Absolutely not worth it. That'll be thousands in labor.

Trust me on this one. You will regret it...maybe not when you get it back, but eventually you will.
