they didn't steal the car and start modifying it. The story says it was stolen, then sold to someone who THEN modified it. And the "mods list" seems like it was written by someone who does not know a thing about cars. Or they asked the teacher what was different and she said "I dunno those wheels are different, there's cute little bullets on the wheels, and a pretty engine, something big like a v8!"
