ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    H22A Type S

Hi im from australia. I own a 90 cb7 and love it. I recently put down a deposit for a H22A Type S engine. Is this engine better then the other H22's?

Yes, it makes 20 more horsepower. The Euro R is rumored to be better, but any differences are very minor.

IMO, the Type S or Euro R motors aren't worth the extra money... but that's here in the US where they can be up to $1500 more than the standard ones. If you got a good price on it, it's good. If the price difference between the 200hp H22A and the 220hp Type S is significant, you can make more power by simply modifying the standard H22A.

The major differences with the Type S are the intake manifold (this is where the Euro R is supposed to be better), the camshafts (wilder profiles), the head (stock "port and polish"), the pistons (11.1:1 instead of the standard JDM H22's 10.6:1 or the USDM H22.s 10.1:1), the exhaust manifold (I've heard... never saw the distinction in person), and most likely the ECU tune.

i think it would be cheaper to buy a standard JDM H22A then upgrade it with Type-S cams and a Euro-R manifold.

Eh, those parts are $1000-$1200 total here in the US... and they're not ALL that the Type S has to make that power.

I agree with you guys about not spending the extra money to get the upgraded Euro-R engine. The part to spend the extra money on would the the transmission. That way you get those really nice, close gear ratios. That will make your car faster in itself. If you get a chance to drive a B18C with GSR gears then with Type-R gears. Its a world of difference!

Well the engine is jdm. This guy from sydney got it from an import yard. He's asking for $4000AUS and it comes with ECU amd wiring, original type s tranny, motor has the balance shafts removed to free up some HP, and also a new timing belt and manual tensioner conversion. Dont think im rich, the auto factory i work for just pays well is all.

As said above, the Type S transmission will be a problem. Either a TON of work to get it to function correctly, or a bit of work (and another transmission) to bypass it.

                      And of course it's JDM. It's a JDM-only car!

I dont know for me its not that much of waste cause im really looking to make this car unique. There's not too many modded up cb7's here in australia and especially not in my state. From what i've seen on youtube you guys in america have plenty which i really like. Here everyone just thinks its better to have a newer car and i dont really feel that way. Everyones got WRX's, Skylines, Silvia's, 180sx's and they all almost look the same, and i really dont wanna have what everyones got. Whats the point of that. Ay by the way what tranny would be better to get for the engine if the other ones gonna cause problems?
