ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    RPM Jumping at warm up

I noticed today when I started my car this morning to let it warm up and after it was started it was running at about 1700 RPM's and after about 1min. I hit the gas pedal when I was getting in the car and the Rpm's started jumping from 1500 to 1000 back and forth so I held the gas pedal down for a little bit to bring the RPM' up to 2000 and when I let off it idle down to about 800 RPM's .My question is what would cause it to fluctuate

is it just the tach jumping or is the engine and the tach doing the same thing?

Answer that. But with that lil fluctuation and the motor is most likely goin with it. If its cold start most likely its the FITV thats starting to go out. The IACV wouldnt be a bad thing to clean while doing this since your on the IM cleaning. If it was just tach movement, but engine doesnt follow the rpm it would be Ignitor related. But sounds like FITV to me with such lil fluctuation and there is no more information but 1000-1500 rpm.

It only happens if you hit the gas while it is still in warm up mode. If you don't touch the gas it warms up normal.

Hmmm I wonder if this any major problem.

Yeah do those tests before you replace anything because I assumed it was my fast idle valve. After I found out that it sucked in air when the engine was cold and stopped suction after operating temp was up I didn't have to replace it. I believe my problem is a mechanical failure in the IACV.

throttle position sensor. if you plan on replacing the iacv then try cleaning it first with throttle body cleaner. sometimes it gets gunky. good luck!

                              It's already been said...

                              but its def the FITV

My car is an automatic, I started it, it idled fine, then as soon as I put it into drive and hit my brakes at the first stoplight, it started surging from 1500rpms to 800rpms. Car never died, nor did it act like it would but after I cleaned the FITV problem was SOLVED.
