ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

your stock temp gauge is way to important to get rid of overall. thats the sensor that tells if you car is hot or cold. when you start your car your car idles higher and brings more fuel in. by taking that sensor out you computer wont be able to tell your car that its warmed up. if your car is always reading cold then more gas, more gas less fuel efficeincy (spl) and then your valves and spark plugs also start to take its tole. believe me thats why i took mine out when i put my h22 in and vtec wasnt kicking in because your car must be warmed up in order to perform its best. you need a t fitting for that or esle i would even put it in.

i was talking about the one with the red single wire running to it but i guess i was wrong. i dunno whenever i put that gauge in (aftermarket) and tried to run my car, my vtec wouldnt engage but when i put the stock on back in then vtec would kick in. i know he may not have the h22 but just telling whats happened to me from experience. yes im talking about the one that controlls the temp sensor in the gauges.

Well, Here is where i get antsy... i bought it in a set of 3, and eithe way i route it, its not going to be long enough.. its going from the driver side A pillar, to the motor on the passenger side, and the cord is only 6 feet long... with this kind of wire running on it, can i splice in a new peice? I know yes, im going to have to solder it in and then seal it with a massive peice of heat shrink, but this is the only thing i can think of.. or is this the kind of wire you shouldnt spice open..?

EDIT: The line on this gauge is really thick.. and when you bend it, it stays in position.. so i dunno, maybe i need a special type of wire to splice it into... anything would be cool.

Ok, so i got the gauge set in, and mounted, and im short about 4-5 feet of cord to the sensor location. Steve: is there any way to rig this thing into the same gauge thats in the dash, or am i SOL? If i am SOL, im going to just use it to fill that spot.

Mechanical temp gauges use a hollow copper capillary tube, not a wire. It can't be easily lengthened. Take it back, and exchange it for a electrical set.

Not sure why you'd want to rig this gauge into the dash....the stock one works just fine.

I need something a little more acurate, my heat likes to fluxuate up and down, and i had a spare pod to use, so i got the water one... apparantly it was easiest to set up other then a volt gauge.. im not sure what to do anymore... i got 2 gauges here i basically wont use now because they wont fit, or because i dont like the idea of oil flow up to my dash -.-

                        Uh....what?
What makes you think the Honda engineered gauge is less accurate than the cheapo ones you bought at Walmart?

What do you mean, your heat goes up and down?

During the winter right now the heat seems to be fuxuating on the gauge cluster. If i rev it, it will actually go down, and as soon as i release my goot off the pedal, it goes back up. Im not 100% sure, but i think there is something wrong with the system, and having this gauge with full numbers and such on the display, im hoping to find out what is causing it, how high it will go, how low it will go, etc.. Im not saying the gauge they made isnt good, im just saying that i wanted something a little more precise, and something that i can easily look at without taking my eyes off the road. I know yes, they were bought at walmart.. but they seem to be a decent gauge. I havent had any problem with my voltometer one, so i stuck with the same type... They look really good too for a cheap-o gauge.

Thats what someone else said too, but i got it checked out, and they said ther t-stat is fine... i mean it IS however like -40 here right now... its retardedly cold. so basically nothing stays warm, but i jump into my ranger for work, or even a friggin Yaris, and they warm up 10X more then mine...
This is waht lead me to get this gauge in the first place.... i guess i'll just leave it in there as a decoration..

Just change out the thermostat with an OEM one and then you'll know for sure.

                                Your temp shouldn't fluctuate.
