ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Leaky Tail Light

    Greetings,

Just found this forum and decided to post here first, excuse noob.

Just finished detailing our '93 SE and discovered water in the left tail lamp. Anyone have experience fixing this or is it better to just replace?

Found used one on ebay but don't know if this will end up being a leaker too?

    Appreciate any advice.

    Thanks

is the lens itself cracked, or is it just a seal somewhere?

Taillight gasket are pretty much teh case. They are probably dried out and worn.

that would be my best guess

you might be able to find something in a hardware or auto store to try and plug it back up... some kind of rubber based sealant crap.

or you could take it as a sign from god that it's time to start modifying your car and buy some euro/jdm tail lights....lol

Thanks guys, guess I'll hold off on the ebay bid for now.

BTW, these are not aftermarket... believe it or not they're original - bought the car new.

Guess I can't complain since this is the first problem we've had with 'em.

Luckily, I have the Helm manual but no info on the tail light removal. Guess I can figure it out as it shouldn't be too hard to pull these?

Also, anyway to clear the water out before resealing?

              Thanks again

Will try the sealer first, guess it's cheaper than replacing for now.

                  Thanks again everyone

Hey man I have had this problem numous times and I found a great solution for the leaky taillight.... buy clear silicone and seal it to make it waterproof and the good thing is if you plan to change taillights you can easily remove it by just cutting it

                      Thanks for that.

Sounds like I need to separate the assembly first and then reseal it with the silicon?

Or is it just cleaning up the dirt and running a fresh bead of silicon around the seam where the lenses meet the housing?
