Yes, I read the DIY located here: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=82699
It was very helpful and I'm basically ready to do this as my 92ex has been leaking oil from around the valve cover for a while now. However, I have a couple total noob questions that don't seem to be addressed by the DIY & I couldn't find by searching other threads.
1) Is there any trick to removing the spark plug covers, the intake hose and the fuel injection hose? The DIY simply says to 'remove' them - are they just plugged in and can be removed by pulling up on them - or is there a tool needed? I don't see any clips/bolts/etc holding them in place...
2) Do you really need to remove the spark plugs? The DIY did but referenced that some people don't. I don't have a spark plug adaptor...and for some reason pulling the spark plugs makes me somewhat nervous. I guess I don't see the value in removing them as part of this project...is there a danger of damaging them if they're still in when I remove the valve cover?
3) The DIY says that the bolts on the valve cover should be retighted to "finger tight and then a bit more" - but I'd swear that I'd seen on other threads here that there was an actual lbs that they were supposed to be set to. Any issues with the "finger tight and then a bit more advice"? I'd prefer not to a) strip one of the bolts or 2) have the valve cover so loose that I create a new set of problems!
Thanks in advance. I can post a picture of the leaking valve cover from my car here if that's of any value.
