ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    silencer

aright so I'm about to buy a Greddy Dunk cat back with a 5" tip. Not my style, but gotta pass emissions, and this thing's brandy new.

So from the looks of it, I have a feeling it's going to be one loud, raspy mofo. Checked ebay for a universal silencer to throw on there to hush hush the sound if it's obnoxious, but the biggest silencer they've got is 4.5".

Any input on where to find a universal type silencer that won't cost me 200 bux like the greddy site wants to?

put a 10" long resonator in the piping that'll keep you low and deep sounding even with a fart can...

yeah I can only find videos of the Apexi Dunk exhaust. I don't know how much alike they are. And the only people on here that have a dunk style exhaust are also Apexi.

How will a new muffler help you pass an emissions test? Unless you mean 'noise pollution'?

Personally I'm not keen on those mufflers with the huge outlets, IMO they just look foolish because the big outlet does absolutely nothing except make the car look ridiculous. Not that the big end pipe will actually hurt, so long as the muffler to which it's attached flows well. If I had access to such a muffler for a very good price then I think I'd take the angle grinder to the tip and weld on a new less embarrassingly sized outlet.

My sentiments exactly. Hell, I never even welded a "tip" to my 2.25" Magnaflow muffler. Looks very stock.

yeah, he meant just pass regular inspection. he has been back three different times for failing one thing or another. the exhaust he currently has on his CB7 has been patched far too many times and the inspection station isn't letting that fly. the 5" exhaust outlet is also not his type, but you can't beat $125 for exactly what he needs to finally pass. ESPECIALLY since the local parts store was going to charge him more for stock piping and muffler. So after thinking it over, he figured he would go with the abnoxious catback for the power and silence it rather than wasting money on another stock exhaust. In my opinion, the 2 horse power you get out of the deal is worth it since it costs less.

(I noticed he hasn't been on, that's the only reason I am speaking for him)

hmm... go to an exhaust shop.... when i got my cat-back done, they charged $80 to make the piping, and install it, along with my DC muffler.... get a quote

that's a good idea as well, do you think a shop would charge less if they just measured out and bent the piping for him? or is it like a bend and fit as you install type deal. We go to an auto class so I'm sure he would want to put it on himself.

there's a muffler shop (Monroe MUffler) that doe sit down the street from our shop, but they crush bend, as apposed to the mandral bends of the cat back I'm gunna buy. I guess the bends do make a difference as well
