You're valves aren't going to drop unless you undo the retainers on the top of the valve springs (should be the same on all engines, not just imports).
Easy way to do it is to take the rocker arms out, put the new cam in, and put the rockers back; you're valves shouldn't be affected at all. You will have to re-adjust your rockers afterwards, but that isn't too bad, and can make a difference by itself if it has never been done on your car.
The bad thing is you will have to undo all the stuff to get to your timing belt, as it will have to be un-tensioned to get the new cam on. What you should do is turn your engine to TDC (like when you change your timing belt) before taking the old cam out, so that you don't mess up your timing.
It may be a good opportunity to change your timing belt, if it is getting up there in mileage.
