ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    1990 Accord LX

Hey guys! Today i'm getting a 1990 accord . it is pretty good condition for the body and the engine has 289k on her. I know that is not to high for honda's as they can go forever. Since this is my first Honda, I was just wondering how much power they are making and if it is a good deal for $1200 Certified.

    Thanks,

    Coulas

first off congrats on the accord, it won't let you down (not too much )

if you have 289k miles on her...make sure she has had a full on tune up recently, if not, I'd start stocking up to do a major tune up. The original engine was not intended as a racing engine, the car itself was geared more towards family oriented people...but if tuned correctly...you'll definitely turn some heads bro.

Thanks guys, this site is one of the best car forums ive been on. I am only 17 and This is my 2nd car. I did get it with 289,000kms , it runs well (loving the sports mode) and i just have to get it emissions tested tomorrow morning. This evening I put a new Cap and rotor on it and changed the spark plugs. It had NGK G power in it, so i upgraded to the iridium. Wish me luck for the test tomorrow, I will let you know how it did.

            Thanks,

Well everyone.... It passed!!!! Limit was 730 and it read 696 LOL. It does have some rust, but a good sanding and body filler should do they job and then I shall get it painted.

PS. JS593-- I live in Toronto, right now the weather is ranging from -14 C to 4C .

Ahhh jesus man, im just beside you in winnipeg. its -10 right now, and we got 4 feet of snow :P Make sure when you maintain that car, put a set of winter gear asside. (if your going to upgrade plugs, wires and stuff, make sure you keep a STOCK set for winter, apparantly if you upgrade the plugs to put out a better spark and such(same with wires) You wont get that spark, and it will be harder to start/run the car. The colder it gets, the worse it is. keep tha baby plugged in

The mileage is fairly high, but not too bad. For that price, it's a fair deal, especially if it's certified (find out what that entails...)

To answer your question... the 90 LX has the F22A1 engine, and makes 125hp and 137ft-lb. It's not a performance engine, but it's not pathetic. With some easy mods, you can make pretty good power (search for my thread on making 30hp for under $500 on an F22A1). Swap options include the H22A and F20B DOHC that were previously mentioned (both 200hp VTEC motors... easy swaps). There are also plenty of other options... F20A SOHC and DOHC, F22B DOHC, F22B1 and F22B2 (garbage motors... don't get those!), H23A...

Enjoy your stay. Definitely search around... there's a TON of information on here! The more you show that you've attempted to find the information you're asking for, the more people will be willing to help when you can't find it!
