ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Buy a cheap volt meter at an auto parts store, start your car and check the voltage on your battery. (red meter lead to positive, black to negative) 13.50-14.50volts is about right, if its twelve or less have the alt. checked. As far as going to the dealership its well worth it, 90 bucks to know whats wrong beats 200 bucks into useless parts.

Just don't give up all hopes on the car yet. CB7s are reliable cars once you get to know it. At least it is hauling my ass everyday.

If those people mess up again. Ask for your refund, go to the dealer and ask for a free diagnose or something.
They usually have this crazy snap-on battery tester that can test every aspect of the system and give you a print out.

wow dude this is painfull to hear. Sounds like my freind. He did the same thing and complained about the car being a money pit. Either fix it yourself or take it to a dealer and get it fixed right! Don't go back to a mechanic that didn't fix it the first time.

if your batt. light is on when you're driving then something is definitely wrong w/ the charging system. it's either being undercharged (alt. is taking a crap) or overcharged (too high amperaged alt.) Stock is 85amps. Your car will only die if its being undercharged so that has to be the prob, since that's what runs all the accessories once the engine is cranked over. And yeah double check your ground wires to make sure everything is hooked up. I've seen a lot of problems that are taken care of by just simply hooking up the right wires to where they're supposed to be.

I know I was wishing I could dump my car everytime a big problem came and I had to pay for it. But ME, unlike my friends don't have a 500 dollar car payment to pay for every month and once you really get to KNOW what's been fixed/what needs fixing on your car, you'll feel alot more comfortable than just buying a newer CB that might have equally the same problems as your's does.

It might be worth it to buy genuine honda parts. I work at a top rated dealership and one thing ive noticed using shucks parts vs. real honda parts is genuine honda parts ensure original performance. Dont pay them to do the work just buy the parts and DIY. There is a good DIY on alternators on here. btw my alt. died about 4 hours after I posted on here so i had to do it last night.

                      update

well today i went to pick it up from my mechanics and supposedly it was fixed and i drove it around for a while then it happened again.everything died.but luckily i was on my way to o 'reilly so i had no choice to ask for a jump.the guy brought out his votage meter thing and checked it .it was at 10 volts running. then he poked at the alternator plug until everything came alive.so my problem from the begining was a shortage from the alternator plug.he said to get one at the junkyard.but my question is do i simply cut off both plugs and connect the wires and cover it with electrical wire or is there something else i need to do?

If I was you, I would just get the whole cable. You would probably have a hard time reconnecting the ends. Be sure to look for a cable that is in good shape, i.e. one that isn't very corroded on the connections (should be somewhat shiny). If you do that, then you are reducing the number of things that might be bad later on, if you ever have trouble again.

and x2 on getting your money back. Any mechanic worth the cost of the paint on the door should have a volt meter, and the alternator/battery should be the first place they check if you say your battery light is on. better yet, you should pick one up; they are incredibly useful if you want to work on your car. You can get cheap ones for $15, and they work fine.

                          Good luck!

Worst info ever...If you cant fix it you bring it to a mechanic. If the mechanic cant fix it right you get your money back and you go somewhere else. Since you couldnt fix your problem doesnt mean the other person shouldnt. You sound like the old sparkle telling others to buy another car back in the day. Its annoying.
