ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

not to contradict but ain't it the red tab?... that's what i've always gone by and it's worked perfectly... there's two white tabs, one right above and another right below the red tab which i considered were the 2degs you're allowed....
It's the middle marker. Mine had no color... just a gouge in the flywheel, with two smaller gouges on either side.

I remember somewhere in my high school auto shop textbook says retarded timing will overheat, burn your valves and plugs. Am I correct or my memory is crap?

I assume by "tabs" he means the markers on the flywheel... if not, I'm lost as well! Those marks are all you use when checking ignition timing!

As for retarded timing causing damage, it's definitely possible. If the mixture is igniting as the exhaust valves are opening, it'll be sucking that flaming mixture out past the exhaust valves, rather than the burnt gasses.

i had did a motor swap and i think i may have advanced the timing too much. i do have any bottom end. lol. maybe a little if i put it in D1 but not very much tho. the a6 that i put in didnt have a dizzy. i made sure the motor was at TDC tho before i put the dizzy on. but i may have moved it forward too much.

can i adjust it to where it was on the last motor or just leave it be and have a shop look at it?

Get a timing light, as I told the OP.

I was stupid and put an unmarked flywheel on my motor... I'm lucky I marked my dizzy!

Read the instructions. I believe you just clip the thing on the #1 plug wire and aim it down the timing hole. Be sure to jump the service port.

Read the posts above... we went through this already with another guy... get the tool, and you'll figure out how to use it. If you can't, we'll help.

The service port is the blue ecu check connector accord91LX was taking about right?
                        what does it do specifically?

                          *bringing back from the dead*

so does anyone have any idea exactly how many degrees are those two white tabs that are just a bit adv./ret. from the middle TDC mark? is it the the two degrees that are allowed?...
