ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Just got a Poly'd front mount got a question

Okay, got a Poly'd front dogbone mount in the mail today and installed it on my car. Is it supposed to shake THAT much? I really love how it completely took care of my harsh shifting issues and i can peel out now! yeeey more torque but the only drawback is it shaking at stoplights when i'm in gear. Do you think it'll eventually break in a LITTLE bit, so it wont shake as much? I had to go to Honda and buy a new hood prop bracket that holds it down b/c it shook the rod when in gear...a whole $2 lol, that's taken care of though.

Its not bad when i finally start moving, like RPM's over 1100 or so. But anyone else have this much shaking just by replacing their front mount w/ a poly'd one? btw, my other 3 are in good shape so its not like this front one is holding the entire engine.

The front dogbone is a dampner so yeah the motor's gonna shake more if it can't dampen.

      ...adjust accordingly

yeah i'm positive the rear mount is fine. I noticed this immediatley after i installed it. The guy i bought it from told me he used 94a polyurethane, which is pretty tough i'm thinking?

Yea i remember reading when CPMike did his(iirc it was him) and people were saying it shook so much it shook loose change out of their coin holder's lol.

I think it is a by product of the new stiff mounts.

I want to do this to soften up my shifts but if it shakes any worse then mine does at idle ill go nuts lol.

It really depends on the hardness of the poly used. I believe 94A is the hard stuff, and 86 is the soft stuff.

So yes, that is normal. That is why I don't like the hard stuff. My rear insert litterally was shaking everything on the back half of the car.

Personally, if I wanted a vibrating skateboard, I would ride a ... vibrating skateboard.

But, you will probably get used to it.

yeah its definitely a new experience for me, everything feels more alive lol. But the advantages of it definitely outweigh the disadvantages. +'s: better acceleration, smoother shifts, easier to shift from D>R or P>D/P>R. but the ONLY neg. i experience is the shaking at idle, so i'm hoping it'll decrease slightly or break in in about a week or so. But what will take getting used to is before the shaking was associated with bad mounts, in this case the mount is good. Unless, does it matter which position the dogbone faces? I know the big part is on top obviously, but should it face left or right?

That i have no idea lol.

Im looking to hear from you on whether or not it "breaks in" because if it does or becomes more "livable" i will be investing in motor mounts as well in the near future as id like to improve shifts.

Where did you get yours if i may ask?

got it from a guy in the NJ area, he makes them, Ceelooboob is his user name here on CB7tuner. The mount was made really well and was only 30 shipped, considering Autozone wanted 69.99 for a aftermarket rubber crap one. But yeah, i'll definitely let you all know if it gets any better, i'm thinking it just needs to settle in, so lets hope thats the case. haha maybe i shoulda gotten the other formula of polyurethane? oh well i'll drive with it and see.

80 is the normal soft stuff. Unless there's also an 86 that I haven't heard of yet.

Yeah, it vibrates like crazy, and it will for a while yet. All of a sudden, though, my car is vibrating a lot less. I'm using the 80 and I've had 'em for about 6 months. The dash vibrates far less than it did just a month ago, and with the A/C off, its effectively no different than it was stock.

Grit your teeth and hold your wristwatch for now and wait for a couple months to a year. It should be a lot better by then.

haha maybe your steering column rattled loose? b/c that's what it feels like now, i just feel so bad for my car so i hold the wheel so it doesn't vibrate off lol. But i've only put on 10 miles, so hopefully rush hour traffic tomorrow morning/afternoon will cure it, i usually get really aggressive around that time, and now its raining in AZ so people definitely don't know how to drive in this kinda weather.

                        hah

Yeah the steering wheel goes berserk. Also seems like your dashboard visibly moves in out.

It'll get better though. Or at least it did for me. The stuff in the glove box doesn't even rattle anymore.

i would make em with watever u want...i dont have any mounts left over right now though....but i can get if ur really interested.

p.s. you get used to the vibrating after while and dont notice it as much...and i also think that the benefits outweigh the little vibration issue...i have been daily driving with 94a mounts for a long time and im just fine
