Well I guess a select few members on here know that ive been posting topics about my o2. Well I just replaced that today, and yes, true my car isnt running rich anymore and my idle has also gotten better. But still everytime I try to go WOT, my exhaust spills out the same black smoke I had before? It cant be oil?. I cleaned out the fuel injector with seafoam, cleaned out inside the throttle body? like my title says, im stumped?

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Check the catalytic converter as it may be plugged. When a converter is plugged, the pressure in the exhaust system builds up to the point that the intake vacuum drops.
or
Black Smoke: Black smoke is caused by excess fuel that has entered the cylinder area and cannot be burned completely. Another term for excess fuel is "running rich." Poor fuel mileage is also a common complaint when black smoke comes out of the tailpipe. Black smoke out the tailpipe is the least cause for alarm. Excess fuel will usually effect engine performance, reduce fuel economy, and produce a fuel odor.
How did the fuel get into the cylinder in the first place? Some of the causes of excess fuel are a carburetor that is out of adjustment, a faulty fuel pump, a leaky fuel injector, or a faulty engine computer or computer sensor. If black smoke is present, check the engine oil as in the white smoke example to make sure excess fuel has not contaminated it. Do not start the engine if a heavy, raw fuel smell can be detected in the engine oil. Call your mechanic and advise him of what you have found.
I hope this helps you determine what could be causing your engine smoke, and the possible reasons behind the smoke.

Cats get plugged from cars not running right. Carbon from rich conditions, oil particles from burning oil, and just crap that just decides to linger in there. Bosch o2's dont really have a good rep with Honda's FYI. IF you want a good sensor NGK/Denso/OEM is the way to go.

yea i perfer ngk but the black smoke can just be the motor iv'e had five diffrent motors in my cb7 hah no shit and 4 of the five puffed i lil black at high rpm. and other was blue smoke and spittin oil all down the road. i don't think that it hurts the engine. i think its the computer dumpin too much fuel into the motor at wide open throttle. i agree check the air system intake exhuast , but in my experience a lil black smoke is normal. alot of smoke is too rich it needs more air to burn the fuel the computer is dumpin in there at full throttle.

Tune up is good??? (as in recent?)
Checked fuel pressure and timming?
If the cat was plugged he would be complaining of loss of power and not wanting to rev... He is only complaining about black smoke.
seafoam is not the greatest thing on earth, its not as good as a proper fuel injector cleaner.
How did you check the injectors?
Did ya watch the spray with the fuel rail off veing careful not to let the injectors pop out?
Did you use a ossiliscope to watch ramp up and ramp down times?

You might keep seeing black smoke until all the excess traces of it have been burned. You should a wait a few days or so to see if it quits. I'll assume you did a tune up already. How's your ignition timing? A couple of things to check off the dome if you haven't already are TPS voltage, ignition coil resistance, one of your injectors might be seaping, air filter, and your spark. It should fire blueish, not orange. Oh and at WOT the O2 is not relevant. ECU only listens to him in closed loop.Last edited by Fake Thug; 12-02-2007, 10:38 AM.

Anyway, back on topic... Bosch o2 sensors almost NEVER work properly with our cars. The best thing to do is go to the dealer.
Also, if you have the basic airflow mods... intake, header, exhaust... the ECU will generally cause the car to run richer. It sees more air, and dumps more fuel. Especially at WOT.

People that have crappy CB7s probably don't bother taking care of them (they ARE old cars...) buy an older "luxury" car, take the same care of it, and it'll treat you even worse than the CB7.
Man some of else take this car stuff to far.
