ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

cooling proplem with a twist HELP!!

My accord has been running ok the temp has never risen above 1/4 mark, I just replaced my radiator because it was leaking still not going over the 1/4 mark. I also replaced the thermostat, which there was none before (no wonder it never went over 1/4) so i just restarted after changing both the rad and the thermostat and now it runs all the way to H within a 1/4 mile from home. Top hose is hot bottom hose is cold. the fan came on when the car is off for the 15 mins via the timer switch. no coolant coming out around the timing belt cover. when you turn on the ac no fans. but it comes on when the car is turned off. ugh i am going to take out the thermostat and see if it runs the way it used to before i put in the tstat. I tested this new thermostat before i put it in and it seemed to open. very frustrated help!!

ok just retested the thermostat and it works fine. would the fans switch being broken make it over heat so quickly? ugh this is so frustrating that i feel sick.

edit: so the plot thicken I took the thrmostat out and now the car runs fine again never leaves the 1/4 mark again! drove it around town in traffic no temp flux what so ever. WTF?

It ain't that hard, you have a bad thermostat. If the lower hose never got hot, then the thermostat is stuck closed and the cooling system is stuck running in closed loop, and yes of course it's going to overheat. Go the dealer, buy a thermostat, don't go to schucks and get their cheap aftermarket stuff. It's no good. OE only on thermostats if you want no problems.

thermostat worked perfectly I tested it twice yes it wasn't oem but it still worked perfectly opened fully at 180* and opened fully. I mean yes it was after market but it was still functioning as it should.

Well...if it doesn't work with that thermostat in it, and it works great when you take it out...one can only conclude that the thermostat is broken. Get a different one and try it.

You're asking for help, Im telling you what to try.

When its showing H, is it actually overheating, or is it just showing that. Maybe the sensor is bad.

But hell, if top is hot and bottom is cold it has to be thermostadt. The other thing i would say water pump, but its not that bc then it would be the same with the thermo in or out.

Maybe the thermostadt is bad dude? You are supposed to be able to press down on the thing, like its a spring that gets compressed. Can you physically compress it, or no?

it physically can be compressed as well as under boiling water i am going to get a oem thermostat next week (40 mile drive) and see what happens.

if you tested it according to to manual, like heating the water up and seeing what temp it opens, then a OEM one wont do shit.

Maybe there is a clog somewhere in your system? i dunno what to think of

Not really. If he's telling the whole story (which we have to assume) then when he took the aftermarket thermostat out (and just ran without a tstat i presume) then it worked fine. Meaning it isn't a clog or anything, but the thermostat. IF you remove a piece while the system isn't working, and after removal it works, then that piece is necessarily broken...or you have one helluva wierd failure that no one on this board will be able to diagnose.

your right i am running without a thermostat right now, and it seems to be running fine way cooler then normal but normal none the less. it's just very perplexing that this component could be this faulty when it clearly tested ok (and i did test it exactly like the manual said)

stupid idea but could you have it installed backwards?

                          true!

most likely not tho, go to honda and replace the thermostat with the oem one, then make sure you bleed the coolant
